Hillary Clinton is Done

Please. Artists playing fundraisers and endorsing candidates is nothing newsworthy. In fact, every candidate has done it this cycle.

Are you suggesting Bernie didn't compensate those workers, when he emphasised that he pays his interns?

Actually, it is.

Your threshold for scandal and embarrassment is getting remarkably similar to Breitbart's.

What kind of tit for tat buys Katy Perry for eighty grand? Her concerts last year made $2 million per stop. Her income is about $136,000,000.00 for 2015. She accepts product endorsement deals in a limited number, all garnering seven figure contracts. She earns about 2.7 mil a week! And she was "bought" for 80k?

Really? You used to be one of the more savvy posters in the USA Politics sub-forum. Your partisanship is turning you into a hack.

Eighty grand probably didn't cover much more than equipment transport and set up/show crew compensation. I would guess that if she had waved all costs, it could have been interpreted as a "campaign donation" of $80 grand that should have been reported and would have been above individual donation limits...

Not an issue I'd put a lot of significance in,...but that's me.

Looks pretty much the same (on a smaller scale for a smaller act).

The five-band show this Saturday at the WorldBeat Center in Balboa Park makes a rare fundraising promise: 100 percent of the $10 door charge goes straight to Sanders. That’s because the $2800 in venue expenses (hall rental, security) was donated by contributors.

Linky.

The campaign of Hillary Clinton says that Katy Perry donated her services to the campaign at no cost, with nearly $70,000 paid to her production company in December covering production expenses from a concert appearance for the candidate.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that the Clinton campaign paid Kitty Purry Inc., Perry’s production company, that sum in December for “event production.” Perry performed a concert for Clinton in Des Moines in October.

“Katy Perry has voluntarily donated her time and energy to the Hillary for America campaign at no cost, and we are extremely grateful for her support,” said Clinton campaign spokesman Josh Schwerin. “In compliance with campaign finance rules, basic production costs have been paid for by the campaign. Any suggestions to the contrary are wildly off base.”

But the payment buzzed around the Internet on Friday, with the inference being that Perry got paid to perform or was cashing in on her endorsement.

In fact, Perry indicated she would endorse Clinton in 2014, when she met Clinton at a reception at CAA and later said on her Instagram account that she would even write a song for the former Secretary of State.

In the grand scheme of pop star salaries, $70,000 is a pittance. The campaign is under an obligation, though, to pick up costs at a certain point. Federal election laws allow volunteers to donate personal services to a candidate, but other costs they incur can be treated as in-kind contributions if not paid for by the campaign, and count against the $2,700-per-individual limit.

Except that in the case of the event I mentioned the bands themselves took care of all their own costs and in the case of Katy, Clinton paid for the costs, Katy merely donated her performance fees (I'm sure a PAC or SuperPAC could have picked up these costs and expenses if they had wanted to go that route). Like I said though, not a major issue that I would really care about one way or the other.

yeah, I ran into that yesterday as well. Kinda humorous, too bad there wasn't a recording, that would have truly been priceless.

There is now this twist however:

yesterday Clinton took a new tact of "I'll show mine if everyone else shows theirs."

"Hillary slaps back at paid speech critics: I’ll release my transcripts when everyone else releases theirs" - http://www.rawstory.com/2016/02/hil...anscripts-when-everyone-else-releases-theirs/

Today Sanders said "put up or admit to another lie"

"Bernie Sanders Releases All Zero Speeches He’s Given To Wall Street" - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...l-street-speeches_us_56c790f5e4b0928f5a6be99b

Now all we need to do is make popcorn!

I guess its too much to hope that she'd jump up and release them immediately?

I am pleased that Bernie called her on her fifth grade taunt.

She won't release them of course, immature bullies never like to be called on their ********.

I wonder what she said to those banksters that's too sensitive to release.

"You have to do more to make this country and the world a better place. But don't let the 99% know I told you this, because if they knew, they'd break your balls about it all day every day, and who needs that?"

"America is about to enter a new regulatory era, and I'm here to tell you how you can position yourselves to stay securely in the 1% when that happens."

"As Secretary of State, I have been privy to certain classified information. Obviously I'm not at liberty to discuss the particulars, but when it comes to Market Projection X, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, know what I mean?"

"You know and I know that the world works best if the 99% are kept in their place. But from time to time we have to throw them a bone. This is one of those times, and this is the bone I recommend we throw."

"We all know our hearts are in the right place. We do the best we can, but sometimes we have to make compromises. This is the right compromise to make, for the good of everyone. But the reasons why this is a good decision are complicated. If word got out that we were contemplating this course, people would misunderstand and become angry. Our political opponents would cynically crucify us in the press for doing the right thing. Therefore it's better for everyone if we keep this just between ourselves."

From the unsupported friend of a friend references I've heard, nothing was said that would be unexpected from a politician giving a private speech to a collection of wealthy peer investors who they wanted to befriend and gain the support of. The only really surprising part would be that she is currently trying to down-play and reject her elitist, wealthy peers camaraderie as she now tries to wear the populist, hip, abuela mask.

Talk about dishonest. Sanders was a big time fundraiser for the Democratic Party. Tell him to release the transcripts of the speeches he gave every year at the Hampton's.

Are you making the same demand of Hillary?

No, of course not.

Those speeches are the property of the DNC, I'm sure they are a matter of public record already, if they aren't the DNC should release them! Were Hillary's speeches given to raise money for the DNC? Did she turn over her speaking fees to the DNC to help them elect more Democratic senators?

Got a link for that assertion? Has Sanders asked the DNC to release said transcripts or if they do is he planning on ginning up the accusation the DNC is conspiring against him?

I could have posted this in the "emails" thread because it's where the info comes from, but I guess it's nothing illegal, just something illustrating again why this woman is unelectable with all the rightful contempt against her by all moral people with at least half a brain. Hillary Clinton’s Hypocrisy on Dissent

Yup, while she was ranting about countries not tolerating dissent on the stage, a 70+ years old peace activist standing up in front of her, silently, was roughed out of the venue so severely that even her Rasputin Sidney Blumenthal advised (via email) to issue an apology, to no avail.

I've never been in that position and I have no idea what is expected of such a speech. Is it platitudes? Inside information? Targeted campaign promises?
