"But back in 1994, Hillary called some black kids superpredators!"
And she was wrong.
Last month, the RNC had their convention, in which they had four days of national, prime-time coverage to make their case for why they should be in power going forward. The entire first night was devoted to "law and order" scaremongering. We saw, among other things, Rudy "no altar boy" Guiliani screeching and raving, and Sheriff Clarke using the acquittal in the killing of Freddie Grey as an
ovation line. The central demand of Black Lives Matter, "Stop killing us", was answered with a resounding "No!" And Trump's sole proposal to black communities, who he has spent the past week demonizing in front of white audiences in what is laughably being called "outreach to black Americans", has been "tougher police".
Understand this: the discussion between Hillary Clinton and black Americans is complex, because black Americans are not a monolith, and policies require complexity. The discussion between Trump and black Americans, does not exist. What does exist is a very simple, and very ugly, dialogue between Donald Trump and white Americans
about black Americans.
And we can hear y'all.
ETA: Has the whole "Robert Byrd" nonsense come up yet? Or the "Democrat plantation" insulting talking point? I can do those too, but I've been dealing with real life and laughing at
youtube videos featuring black guys singing about a billy goat, and honestly...I can't be bothered to search.
