I started reading the JREF-forum many years ago but didn't join until just about a month ago. I don't remember exactly what brought me here, but I do know that it was the Conspiracy subforum, and especially the 9/11 section, that kept me comming back.
My story has some similarities with the OPs. I started reading about these conspiracy theories regarding 9/11 many years ago, and allthough i didn't fully beleive them, I was still bothered by some of the claims and figured there were at least good reasons to doubt the official story. And I was quite a bit anti-Bush as well. Comming to this forum, following discussions and checking out links to resources of facts, I quickly learned that these theories were nonsense, and many, if not most, of the "facts" that I had been bothered about were simply not true.
Another thing I have learned from reading here at the JREF-forum is the value of doing background research and to look critically at sources. One thing that gets me about truthers is that many of them seem to have a lot of information regarding 9/11, except, it's all just wrong. So, it's not that they won't do
any research, it's that they won't look at the
real facts and use reliable sources. Since those two are integral for serious research, their efforts fail already at the research stage. And when they start drawing their conclusions, it only gets worse. But then again, this sort of research failiure can probably be attributed to most conspiracy theorists. Apparently, there is this thing called confirmation bias.
But, again, this forum is a great resource for those who want to learn the real facts about 9/11, and I too, would like to thank all of you who have made it, and continue to make it what it is. Considering how effective people around here have been at debunking truther "facts", I'm amazed that people still bother to come here and argue the other side. But at least it makes for good entertainment. Keep up the good work!
