Heeeeeeere's Obamacare!

Why not also people looking to compare costs (like me). I have insurance (I pay for). I'm now going to pay more.

You'd pay more going through that marketplace site than you do now. Or your insurance is going to go up?

So, has the world ended yet? Has the Bible been banned? Have the evil Muslim socialists come to take our American flags to burn them? Are women being forced to abort their babies and then eat the remains? Are old people being turned into Soylent Green?

Wait, none of that's happened yet? Well, color me surprised... I mean, that's what the right-wing would said would happen once Obamacare started...

The Soylent Green factory workers are on furlough today, so you can thank congress for that at least.

I'd pay more through the market place. If I keep what I have, I have better coverage for less.

So, you aren't actually paying more? You would pay more if switched to another plan, which you aren't going to do?

I fail to see your issue here.

Yup. Racist retardicans wrong AGAIN! So many people "hate" aca that they crashed the sites in 24 states because so many people trying to sign up.

You are correct.

I was under the impression that this was a reform that was going to reduce healthcare costs. Maybe I don't understand the meaning of the word "reform". Is it only reform for certain groups?

I find your claims dubious. Would you be willing to share some details and links so we may compare your current plan to the plan on the exchange?

I live in MA and the numbers are not final.

I will when I can.

BTW: I've been required to have insurance all along. You may have heard of a guy named Mitt Romney. ;)

It doesn't really reduce costs per se. It spreads costs out more and helps people who couldn't afford it get it.

So it is really not a reform, it's a redistribution of cost.

Who's picking up the subsidies that the plan is giving (to some)?

I'm still unsure of the meaning of the word "reform".

The people who have been actively strip-mining the middle and poor classes of what they've been working ever harder to get less of for decades now.

I beg to differ. I'll be looking into this, when I get the chance, to see if it is a viable replacement for employer based health insurance, which allow me to be more selective in the kinds of jobs I accept. This is potentially a fairly big deal for me.

Last week, exchange directors were joking about what low volume they would see for enrollment Oct. 1; California's Obamacare head estimated two people would sign up on day one.

Maybe not: At least a few states right now are reporting pretty high traffic in their first few hours of business. New York has had more than 2 million visitors this morning, which is causing some trouble for people trying to sign up. To put that in perspective, New York has 2.5 million uninsured residents.

I'd be interested to see what you find once you look into it.

It still doesn't address where the money for the subsidies is coming from. If it's coming from taxes or increased cost to employers it's still coming out of your wallet.

You don't think Walmart or Homedepot are going to absorb this cost, do you?

I know other states are different, but the fact that any NYer didn't haven't insurance was their own damn fault.

NY has (had?) a plan called Family Health Plus. It basically gave health insurance to anyone who wanted it that didn't qualify through other means...and depending on income, the cost was anywhere from ZERO to a few hundred dollars a month.

When I was working part-time after getting laid-off back in 2004, I was paying a whopping $9 a month.

Anyway...back to the show...
