He Hasn't Won The Election Yet

Why very low?

I say this because typically that's been my own experience in watching the winners of protest votes over the years. None of them on this scale obviously.

I can envision a scenario where he may be able to accomplish things both internationally and domestically that gain him popularity. Maybe he runs up huge deficits and creates a bit of work. Maybe he pulls all the troops out of South Korea and by some twist of fate the causes both China and South Korea feel the urgency to solve the problem of North Korea more seriously and things begin to work towards a resolution. Maybe Trump becomes isolationist and the world goes to hell... Or other countries start pulling more their weight militarily. Who knows there are a lot of balls up in the air.

But most likely things just roll on and Trump looks like a fool for four years and loses the next election.

It's hard to believe that there are people intelligent enough to use a computer who think this is a good idea.

Supporting democracy includes accepting that you will lose some elections.
Speaking as one of those people who, I suppose, supports this (for all that I think it is futile to attempt) - there are any number of Republican politicians who would NOT have triggered this reaction. I do think that if a "flipping of the electoral college" actually happened it would likely result in civil war and mass American casualties. The problem is that even before this election, I've been becoming increasingly worried that we've been heading toward civil war anyway, owing to the increasing sense of marginalization and lack of reasoned discourse amongst American subpopulations. Yes, in spite of the fact that historical record includes any normal of outage protests or abuses that make this one seem mild by comparison. I think there are ways in which one could construct a democracy that would diffuse this sense of marginalization, and that maybe it's time the base US system was altered. And maybe, yes, it would require civil war and many American deaths. Maybe that makes me a bad or dangerous person.

I do hope I'm wrong about the civil war thing. I could easily be.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." - Thomas Jefferson
"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote." - Often misattributed to Ben Franklin and frequently used to justify abject stupidity.
