Anybody know what's going on with the distribution of aid (medicine, food, etc.) from the airport? U.S. military is handling the airport operations, but who is responsible for what gets out to the streets -- Haiti's gov't? U.N.?

The acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Haiti, Edmond Mulet, told a news briefing that the US forces will be dedicated to distributing humanitarian aid and ensuring security for those distributions, while the UN Mission (MINUSTAH) will be performing its duties to assist the Haitian National Police in guaranteeing security and stability in the country.

They do acknowledge problems in getting things down so far:

Funny, you never answered mine. What would you do to ensure the population's safety and the orderly distribution of the aid (and the safety of the workers)?
