What is an emo teen?

Emo
Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.

Probably so. But as long as everyone is having fun, that's no problem. And they seem to be.

Good point, Tricky and I would never try to interfere with anyone's enjoyment of a good chew toy. I just think it's a waste of time trying to teach a pig to whistle.

If I use one more corny metaphor in the same post, is it a hat trick? :D

You'd be talking thru your hat.

Yup, he said your hypothesis was delusional ?
didn't he ?
:D

Yeah but that's besides the point he's making. He's saying that only because a theory is based on imagination and yet unproved doesn't mean it's not true. Like somebody dreaming up a round earth before everybody else and being accidentally right.

understand the concept behind it.. if you dont have an imagination sure i can understand then.

Hi Rory. Getting back to your OP, I'm not sure where you were going with it. Are you wondering if man-made earthquakes are possible? Looking to find proof either way? Or did you find an interesting little tidbit that you wanted to share?

Hey, well it was to start a debate on pure facts to see who cant handle the truth ;) While hoping out of the smart bunch of people here at JREF others may shred some more light on it in amongst the jokers who believe its only white and black. The only worth-wide post from Stout said he watched the same water aspect been mentioned again more recently in a doco on the Romans, coincidence? no such thing everything happens for a reason.

The image was taken out of a readers digest book called 'Book Of Facts'. and i only found that information after i decided to take the book home from a visit to my mums and remembering i used it quite a lot in school thinking it would be a top toilet book to read lol :).

Then something totally different the H.A.A.R.P project which pretty much outlines another way of doing it and more recent than the 1992 book of facts. It could be a decoy (just using my imagination here) for the water based way to work and people to focus on H.A.A.R.P instead of looking for the 'Book Of Facts' way in creating man made earthquakes written in 1992.

Oooooooook...

HAARP waterboards fault zones to create earthquakes...

And instead demolishing a North Korean or Iranian nuclear site with a huge earthquake, USA decided to hit Haiti...

Oooooooook...

You have to remember one thing, the plates and where they are.

This is why I like you Rory. I really do. Your argument is nonsense but you sell it in a way that's just plain [spock]fascinating[/spock]. I'm glad to see you've found the shift key (sometimes).

Would you mind stating a point related to the thread and providing evidence to support it? Or anything remotely resembling something remotely resembling that? Your last post seems to hints at that... but I just don't get it.

So, either you were purely trolling or you know the pure facts. Which?

The fact that the Earth is round was proved hundreds of years ago so you seem to be a bit behind in your technical reading.

The Earth is more oval, or egg shaped. It is not 'round' like a basket ball.

:bigclap

Although, I should point out that this goes for everyone, and not just people espousing nutty ideas. Seriously, it's not that difficult to choose the correct word from it's/its, who's/whose and there/they're/their and so on.
I'll put up with a fair number of the more common typos. The its/it's thing, for example, my eyes just gloss over it, and at least I can tell what they mean. Rory, on the other hand, who knows? I'd love to see him, pixie of key, and Bjarne in a three sided debate over some obscure aspect of cosmology none of them actually understand. Then I'd take the page, randomly enlarge fonts and change colors, and post it as an answer to 'timecube'

Is there a third-grader there who could explain punctuation and capitalization to you?
When you don't use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation it makes you look stupid. Seriously, it does.
You don't want to continue to look stupid, do you?

And there's an entire thread devoted to crop circles. You can take that nonsense there.

Firefox comes with a decent little spellchecker. It also works with most operating systems. I gave you the Google for it so you can pick your 'right' flavor of 'fox'. Microsoft's Office is better but a bigger bite to the wallet.

Saying that the earth is round is false, but less false than saying that the earth is flat. Its ALMOST a sphere, barring some anomalies from the spin and gravitational variations.

A general discussion. How many people here knew they could control earthquakes with water? Given its a known fact from 1992 and 18 years later imagine how efficient they have become at doing it. In saying that everything needs to be tested with a trial and error process.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_21st_century_earthquakes

have a look at that list. Each year up till 2009 the list got quite larger, what does that tell you? It tells me a few things but i don't want to use the power of suggestion yet. Given they may not all are recorded on that page. I know of one lately in Illinois which was only 4.3 and never happens there.

Then just have a think with the image below where the plates are located, sure natural earthquakes happen but the impression i get is the water method can only be done in the areas with plates(correct me if im wrong).

And that then lends to why? Why would anyone want to control earthquakes or make them happen. Many reasons i can come up with, maybe others can add or cancel out the ones below.

1: For the good, helping earthquakes not destroy buildings and kill thousands of people.
2: For war, threats and power etc.
3: For developers who want beautiful coastal land to build luscious resorts in-replace of the 3rd world living with beautiful coastal views and life style when people wont sell them the land(typical act everywhere just on larger scale lol).

Claiming something that hasn't been shown to even exist as fact, does not magic it into reality.

It tells me that geologists are getting really good at monitoring earthquakes.

You're assuming characteristics of something that doesn't exist. Please present evidence that this so called "water-method" even works before making things up.
And that then lends to why? Why would anyone want to control earthquakes or make them happen. Many reasons i can come up with, maybe others can add or cancel out the ones below.
<Snip nonsense>
Hold up cowboy. You need to actually present evidence that something even occurs before starting to make up reasons why it occurs.

...snip...You have to remember one thing, the plates and where they are....snip...
You know, here at JREF one must be very careful when making comments like this. For example, I happen to be a geologist (just like at least three other members around) and I also happen to have MsC and PhD in structural geology. So, you have to remember where you are.

Want a lecture on how earthquakes are generated, plate tectonics and also how foolish are the claims you are making?

u think u can get it?

you guys dont seem to get it, its a fact not magic and its out in the open. Cant any of you work together in throwing ideas back and fourth with facts in between? or are you all just up yourselves, bar Stout and a couple others.

what i'd be really interested to know is if ANYONE here is high in any Government around the world or are they just banned from coming here. Since police montior www.bluelight.ru (yes its a drug forum but this place holds Conspiracy Theories and so on which are of importance to Government figures).

You still haven't shown any evidence or references where this "water thing" comes from or how it works.

I could propose that earthquakes are caused by solar rays and it would have as much validity as what you are proposing. i.e. none.

Why do you think someone wanted to start an earthenware in Haiti, out of all the places they could have started an earthquake, assuming they could physically do such a thing ?

the first post with the image isnt enough evidence for you?

LandR, your asking me a question which i can only give an opinion on not based on experience and that will lead to atleast 10 others pulling it apart and saying im insane or stupid lalala. But sure why not.

#3 For developers who want beautiful coastal land to build luscious resorts in-replace of the 3rd world living with beautiful coastal views and life style when people wont sell them the land(typical act everywhere just on larger scale lol). - Only time will tell on that one to whether or not what gets built now.

Another there is some history between the Haiti people and America(or the English but i think it was American's), i only read that the other week. I forget where i think it was on the internet somewhere or in a book. Something to do with them been Black. Also the fact no Govt was stepping in to help, was on the news that no Govt was helping them/talking to them days or weeks after the earthquake.

Bored with power?

A statement by someone in control to someone else saying 'don't mess with us or you'll get this too' an attack hidden by a natural disaster.

Probably a few more i can come up with but don't want to send you all crazy with replies lol.
