Glenn Beck's bizarre race card play

This should be an interesting thread. So many of the liberals around here have claimed that any opposition to Obama must be racist; will they agree with Glenn Beck?

I'm sorry, but you don't get to claim that without testable, verifiable evidence. Please provide evidence that 75% (so many, call it 75%) of the "liberals" around here have said that.

If you can't, please admit you were wrong.

It seems that Glenn Beck has gotten himself in a bit of a spot with fellow conservatives by saying something really stupid

The surprising part is conservatives are actually holding another conservative accountable for what he says.

Beck's bread and butter within his adherents is fear, and to others it's controversy. Both camps make up his audience. His remarks quoted in this thread are meant more for the enjoyment of the second camp than the first, and he seems to be catering more for that camp's attention these days.

As such, btw, I expect he will not support any party-selected presidential candidate, since then he'd lose a lot of material for his rants (especially if that candidate is elected). I think for that reason, his favorite currently seems to be Bachmann.

Of course not, but there have been multiple posts on this board claiming the opposition to BO is largely based on racism with no such evidence and it didn't take long for leftysergeant to chime in with admitting that very thing.
Tu quoque? Two wrongs make a right? We're talking about Brainster's claim made on this thread.

No, "any" or "all" and "large part" are not really significant differences to the broader point Brainster was making.
No. Again, there is a stark logical difference between "any opposition" and "a large part of those with visceral hatred" (and by the way, the point has also been made that taking Lefty's comment out of context where his main point was that there are in fact many other reasons why some people hate Obama also argues against your position).

You don't think that people that hate BO aren't opposed to him?

"Yeah, I hate that Obama, but I'm not really opposed to him..."

Do you need a Venn Diagram to explain the logical flaw here? (Picture a larger circle labelled "any opposition" and a smaller circle within it labelled "visceral hatred".)

Now you're arguing against a strawman position. Nobody said that people who hate Obama aren't opposed to him.

The claim was that "any opposition" was attributed to racism by "so many liberals" here. And all you've got is a quote from Lefty where even taking it out of context it doesn't support Brainster's claim.

You got it backwards.

"I oppose him, but I don't hate him" would be a common phrase used by moderates of both left and right. Personally, I try very hard not to "hate" anyone. Don't you?
