Glen Beck is being sued.

Oh. :) I'm irony impaired.

The Accurate Reloading forums has a little April Fool's thing each year. This time they are trying out their new "white on white" display. I can't get around the joke so I'm staying off of the forum until tomorrow.

I remember Beck's little rant back then. I thought he was driving deeper into doofus land. Maybe he is taking his cues from Kevin Trudeau?

I'm reminded of when Richard Jewell sued Tom Brokaw and received an undisclosed settlement. But at least in that case the FBI was busily and very publicly tearing Jewell's life apart, even though they eventually had to admit they had nothing. What caused Beck to latch on to this guy?

Racism?

A Bostonian, Abdulrahman Alharbi, whom the right-wing loon Glen Beck singled out and accused of being involved in the terror bombings during the Boston Marathon last year, has filed a lawsuit against the aforementioned loon.

Peter Haley, Alharbi’s lawyer stated in his filing:

Apparently accusing someone of being a member of Al Qaeda, being a murderer and terrorist and funding bombings, even after your "case" has been shown to be utter rubbish, has consequences.

Complaint.

Glen Beck has problems that for sure. I have a friend who worships the ground he walks on but even Beck has tell the truth when he makes statements like that. Unless Beck can back this up he liable to be parting with a consideralbe sum of money soon.

To summarise, he's a Muslim.
More detail, he was injured in the bombing, cooperated fully with the investigation (and was cleared, his "Person of Interest" lasted a couple of days) but Beck started spewing accusations, at the US government and Obama personally and then completely messed up his own conspiracy theory.

The cops searched his apartment early on in the investigation and cleared him. Everyone else who reported on it either retracted or stopped reporting on it. Beck apparently decided that he was guilty based on nothing but that early report and hammered on it long after anyone with a shred of human decency would have stopped.

I don't see any plausible defense for Beck. I'm surprised he hasn't been sued into oblivion already.

I remember the poor Sikh business owner who was murdered in Texas just after the September 11 attack simply because some idiot thought he was Arabian (not that it would have been any less appalling had he been).

While it is easy to believe something like that about Texas, that actually happened in my home town of Mesa, Arizona. I drive by the deceased's gas station every day to get to work, there's a small monument in front of it.

If Beck had posted or spoken a retraction and an apology, would that have been enough? And if he hasn't done those things, why the hell not? Even if he can still be sued despite that, it's the very least he could do...

If Beck would have issued a retraction right after it became apparent that the plantiff was a innocent party,Beck would probably be off the hook. But Beck has the disease that plagues many talk show hosts, that admitting he made a mistake is a sing of weakness. I hope Beck gets his butt handed to him in this case.

And I hope we see him singing all the way to the poorhouse. Which we do not have anymore, but which I would love to see reinstituted just for him.

Whelp... because of the panic he was in after Obama's reelection, 3 people got into a bidding war over some land I had in VA that I had been trying to get rid of for 6 years, so I gotta give him points for that.
