So, Rudy only did his job on 9/11? Please show me another mayor that did the same.
Its an unprecedented situation we are refering to. Even if he "only did his job", he did it exceptionally.
So perhaps a candidate who actually does his job is not such a bad idea.
Even that, it seems, is not always necessary:
But when George ... went to Andover his teachers discovered he could not spell, Lutz reports. At Yale, one theory holds that W. was the model for Bluto, the hard-drinking, Jell-O-spewing DKE frat boy. Lutz notes that W. was a proud DKE member. At Harvard Business School, economics professor Yoshi Tsurumi told Lutz that W. was "lazy. He didn't come to my class prepared. He did very badly" ...
When his father was elected as vice president, W. got millions to invest (and lose) in the Texas oil game. By 1986, he was $3.1 million in debt...
When he was elected governor of Texas, the workday ended before lunch ...
Presidents Clinton and Carter averaged less than three weeks a year away from the Oval office. Lutz says that Bush has averaged 19 weeks of vacation a year ... *
So perhaps a candidate who actually does his job is not such a bad idea.
Sacred to whom? I think the artists were making a perfectly valid point in a country that supposedly values freedom of speech and expression. If we can fund the rebuilding of Iraq, we can certainly fund controversial art.
Again, we should at least be happy enough that our society doesn't allow us to riot over a cartoon.![]()

You make a good point, especially considering how awful a president our current president is. But, on the other hand, even if one considers Rudy a competent mayor, would that make him a good president?
I don't think we should censor that kind of art. But why should we fund it?
Presidents Clinton and Carter averaged less than three weeks a year away from the Oval office.
The attraction of Giuliani getting the nod over McCain is that he's more likely to cause a fundie meltdown, and thus big fun in the primaries and general election. The fundies have their own litmus tests and they don't take well to either McCain or Giuliani, but they'd be a little tougher on Giuliani. IMHO, either one of them as the prime candidate going into early '08, and we'll get another Buchanan or Robertson (or the actual Buchanan or Robertson) running for the party nod, and then posssibly even contninuing with another 3rd party candidacy.
This is the only thing that could get Obama or Hillary elected, so the Dems are probably going to be pulling for Rudy in a big way, at least early on, so that they can get a heavyweight fundie/conservative in their to turn the Republican primaries into a pooh-slinging fiesta.
So what you are saying is you feel disappointment that President Bush isn't spending more time in the office?
If only Carter would have spent more time away the country would have been better.
No, I'm saying I feel disappointment that President Bush isn't spending more time eating pretzels. So what you are saying is you feel disappointment that President Bush isn't spending more time in the office?
