i sometimes wonder if many religious people even understand what "atheist" means! I remember reading a forum several years back where religious bloggers were ranting on about atheists, and one said "i think anybody who doesn't believe in god should move to an atheist country, such as afghanistan!" - what??? Yeah, i read that right...
Yes. The circus of potential candidates has begun.
But he's Catholic! That makes him a heretic to the fundies, and he can't be a True RepublicanTM.It won't work... a lot of the hard core right considers Newt a RINO. Obvious pandering won't change their mind. On the other hand it may be his only available play.
Hey, Judge Roy "Ten Commandments" Moore is considering a run! Were not those statements made at the CPAC conference? Preaching whackery to the whacked...
Fishin' for votes..
But it does seem to be true; of the names being floated now only Romney seems even remotely sane.

Get with the program; it's Islamoatheists. So I guess that Republicans have dropped the term "Islamofacists" that was all the rage a few years ago in favor of the new term "Secular Islamist Atheists".
How very weird.

The scary thing is Gingrich isn't stupid--he is obviously aware that his statements make no sense. But he is being disingenuous and pandering to the lowest common denominator in his party. He doesn't give a damn that he is fueling hatred and bigotry at the same time.
I assume what he's intending to say is that the spread of atheism allows for the Islamist Extremists to corrupt them and take over, whereas Christians aren't so easily swayed...
So, I don't think there's a Islamic-Atheist contradiction to what he's saying. Of course, extraordinary claims and all...

It's bad when your cutting brain farts this early in the pres run...
He's not running. He was paid to pull a Charlie Sheen, to make the actual Republican candidates look sane by comparison when they come forward.
