Agreed. Gillard has tapped into the "Aussie psyche" now. AJ has a dig at the old man, then Abbott pathetically tried to use it against her in parliament with his extremely clever "government dying of shame" (irony+) stab, and she came back swinging.
The 'underdog/battler' gave the 'toff' a shellacking, and exposed him for the jellyfish that he is.

I don't think we can put all the blame on Abbott though. The Liberal party as a whole should be ashamed. Drovers dog works too. A good operation just wouldn't keep this particular dog.
They're *********** useless if they chase the sheep away.;)

What a shame that a Prime Minister would rather divide a nation over sex, wealth etc - create differences amongst its' people rather than unite them and actually lead.
Moreover, it is a sad indictment on a government that it has to resort to name calling, lies, one-upmanship etc rather than rest on its policies and achievements.
 
The Mad Monk's comments this morning were yet another face palm moment. Like JG said, he needs to explain himself but either way, this is an aspiring leader of the country, and this is his level of articulation.

There are only two possible explanations about the "inexperience" with babies statement. Either Abbott is monumentally stupid and can't put together a string of meaningful words, or he was having a not very subtle (and sexist) dig at Gillard's childless status. Because it was not a statement of fact.

Hmmmm, which to choose.

Maybe. But you miss the real point. Simply that people are desperate to find take insult at anything Abbott says. Even if he was having a crack ate her, why would or should Gillard be insulted by the truth anyway? Is she somehow ashamed of her choice to be barren?

Anyway, the reduction in the baby bonus is anti catholic? :)

ETA: It was a ridiculously clumsy and thoughtless attempt at a dig at Gillard's childless status.

And this how it goes with Abbott. He can't speak off-the-cuff without saying something that offends people which is why he's so damned drilled on what to say. As soon as he's asked to go beyond those carefully scripted statements he shows his true colours and the Coalition spin machine is forced get the hose out.

Funny, I never cared one bit about Aussie politics before. But thanks to Alfie's threads, I now really hate this Abbott douche and really like this Gillard woman. :D
 
Does Labor have a mole in the Coalition writing out their talking points? Last night Hockey compares cut to baby bonus with China's one child policy. This morning Abbott with his comment.

Government plans to cut baby bonus (introduced by Coalition govt) from $5,000 to $3,000 for second child. Abbott said govt "doesn't have experience" with raising children (majority of Labor MPs have children); acts surprised when everyone goes WTF?!

And yet you miss the point. Even if he were making a direct comment on her, why does she take offense and why are others so quick to take offense?
What is so offensive about it? Is she somehow ashamed of her choice to abort her foetuses and deliberately not reproduce??
