Look, I know where you are coming from - your default position is that everyone in jail is innocent, and all the courts, prosecutors, Police and judges who put them there are corrupt liars. Its a theme that runs through just about every "trials" thread you participate in... and you are right some of the time (Scott Watson, Mark Lundy & David Tamihere et al) but not always.

People commit crimes, and Ghislaine Maxwell is no exception - she appears to have committed numerous criminal acts including...

Enticement of minors, to travel to engage in illegal sex acts
Conspiring to entice minors to engage in illegal sex acts
Transporting minors for the purposes of criminal sexual activity
Conspiring to entice minors to travel to engage in criminal sexual activity
Perjury (two counts)

Yes, she is technically innocent under the law until proven guilty, but the evidence against her is overwhelming - the prosecution have statements from more than 250 witnesses related to their investigation, including from several who have personally experience the things that Maxwell is charged with. Because she has multiple passports, an extensive network of helpers (not least of whom are all those powerful people with plenty to gain from her silence) and in effect near-unlimited financial resources, she represents an extreme flight risk, so she should remain incarcerated and under guard.

If she's found guilty, the current incarceration period can be counted as "time served" off her sentence, if she is found not guilty, she can sue the arse off the federal government for false arrest and detention.

It is a moot point when several have asserted that they said no, and were violently raped, including by Maxwell.
 
Consider this. Epstein died with assets (that were known of) valued at $500,000,000. Ghislaine Maxwell appears to have bottomless assets.

Gumshoe attorney Bradley Edwards puts out an appeal for anyone who might have done sex work for Epstein to come forward, as they could have a claim to some of these assets.

I think you're missing the insinuation that the young women, who were girls at the time are golddiggers who had, out of the goodness of convicted paedophile, Epstein's heart, had invited them to his secluded island to enjoy parties with adults. And now they're trying to get money simply because of some technicality like their being raped, often violently.

Violent rape is a meme that resonates but without evidence.

I wasn't missing the point, I know exactly what Vixen was insinuating, and I was responding to it

I realize perfectly well that Vixen doesn't think either Epstein or Maxwell have done anything seriously wrong.

Except , of course that

1. Rape is about force and power; it is, and of itself, a violent act by definition... there is no such thing as harmless/gentle rape...

2. The prosecutors have witnesses who have claimed to have been raped by Epstein and Maxwell, and their claims and complaints were the basis upon which these two have been arrested and charged. Do you have evidence the complainants are all lying about that?

And in any case, I thought you said you were "out"?

Rape can involve coercion other than violence. However in this case the credible claims from the victims are that it involved both threats of violence and actual violence resulting in injury to the girls.

Oh, my sarcasm flags were a bit too small. I thought it was obvious that you did realise that. But I still wanted to explore the implications of what Vixen was insinuating.
