Notice that The Sun hasn't had a single front page story on the party fiasco or the **** up over Afghanistan. Today they are leading with a story about last weeks storm.

They know what Johnson knows:

  • the 'business meeting' took place on Crown Property, which is exempt, as Boris has discreetly looked into loopholes
  • the party which wasn't a party which included Carrie and her friend - the baby-sitter! - was all right because they were all part of a 'bubble' (no, silly, not the Prosecco type).
  • Number 10 is a big place. Bozo was fast asleep whilst all of this was *allegedly* going on.
  • The noise you heard was Larry the Cat.
  • The SUN was 'allegedly' there, although they were not, so is exempt from incriminating itself.

Allegra Stratton has had a privileged life. She’s never had an empty food cupboard or empty bank account and she’s never had a door slammed in her face. She knows who the Vote Leave cabal are fine well, and she was happy to hitch her cart 2 them. Sympathy for her in minus figures

A disgusting lie! There was that time her four credit cards maxed out and there was only one bottle of champagne in the fridge.

I've never been in this thread before, but I happened to have on BBC World News, and also saw a rather lengthy segment on CNN -- something about a Christmas party? I'm rather jealous that that seems to be the most scandalous thing that's gone on in your politics for a while.

Maybe we can lend you some of ours. (from the US) :P

My friend's father died of covid around about this time last year. She only managed to get to hold his hand as she is a care worker and was allowed in that way. (He also had pneumonia and dementia and was quite elderly.) The funeral was limited in numbers and like many, largely took place on Zoom. That is why people are very very angry. Nobody likes to be made fun of, and this is what the UK government, by having Christmas parties, banned for everybody else and to add insult to injury, the presser and spads made jokes about it in a press rehearsal a few days later.

Totally devoid of any integrity or morals. Untrustworthy. Corrupt to the gills.

Just heard some berk of a Tory from somewhere or other southern saying he was considering leaving the party over the re-imposition of some, limited, Covid restrictions, while not saying a thing about all the lies, the corruption, the incompetence, the lies and the corruption...Not to forget the incompetence...

Revealing about the general ethical standards in the Tories, eh?

He was on Radio 4 news.

He's a local party chairman. He's resigned from the party because he isn't happy with the 'dictatorial' path the party is taking over Covid restrictions.

News Reports that Carrie Johnson has given birth to a baby girl have been denied by Boris Johnson who says he has no knowledge of it, as far as he is concerned the event never took place and he will launch a thorough investigation into the claims.

On anti-corruption day and everyday, we, as partners and allies, want to empower individuals to stand up against corruption and promote transparency.
Democracy enables us to hold each other to account, at home and abroad.

Are they on glue?

Naaaah, IME with gluies back in Sheffield in the mid-80s was that gluies made far more sense and were far morse consistent in what they said and how they behaved than this shower of faecal matter.

Daily Mail

"Sajid Javid says he REFUSED to do TV interviews defending the 'illegal' No10 Christmas party."

Seems the sharks are circling.

How does Boris square this?

In May he told Lord Geidt that he did not know who was behind No11 flat refurb until Feb 2021.

Today the Electoral Commission says Boris Whatsapped Lord Brownlow in November 2020 asking for more cash for the refurbishment.

He said at a PMQs that he had no idea until Feb 21 and at that time he repaid the donation back in full.

As I understand it, the excuse is that he asked Brownlow for the cash because briwnlow was administering a blind trust to manage the cash (although said trust had not yet been set up at the time) & didn't know that Brownlow was providing the cash for the blind trust he was (later to be) administering.

I'd like to see how the timing of setting up of the 'blind trust' compares to when questions started being asked.

"Because the money came in a brown envelope I had no way to know it wasn't legit!"

Sajid Javid on BBC Breakfast says he was so ‘upset’ by the video of Allegra Stratton he couldn’t announce the Covid rule changes to parliament.

The report into the bullying and harassment (let's call a spade a sodding shovel!) at West Suffolk NHS Trust is finally out - https://www.theguardian.com/society...ised-over-intimidating-hunt-for-whistleblower

I'm putting this in politics, as the decisions taken by the DoH to repeatedly delay publication (the findings were so obvious that I could immediately see them from Northumberland) were clearly political in order to allow all the guilty parties to sod off elsewhere, be it new jobs or retirement, and thus escape any form of consequence for their actions (managers are not regulated, as clinical staff have to be, and so cannot be pursued via professional regulatory bodies. It is, so history tells us, hard to make any complaint stick against a nurse or medic in a managerial role if it is that role in which they have been naughty). And, conveniently, Matt Hancock, the local MP and mate of the offending ex-chief exec, has also, finally, been evicted from the DoH, so he escapes anything for not acting against obvious bullying and harassment.

In a nutshell this shows why I have developed such a negative view of NHS management and the DoH, who collude against clinical staff trying to do the right thing and ignore existing policies when it suits. This sort of thing has happened so many times in so many places; the list of folk I personally know who have been threatened, bullied and harassed by management, self included, for trying to stick up for patients, clinical standards and colleagues is a very, very long one. However, the media play a part in condoning this, as they mostly ignore what people tell them about what is going on - those cases, like this one, which do make it into headlines are merely the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

Broadcaster and journalist Eamonn Holmes joins GB News.

From the BBC report of that news:

In his statement, Holmes added: "I've admired GB News from the beginning for its clever mix of punchy debate but delivered with warmth and even some fun.

"To me the greatest honour in journalism is to give a voice and respect to the unheard, and that's exactly what GB News is all about."

The "unheard" ? I'm not aware of GB News providing an outlet for the marginalised and members of minorities. I thought it was about providing a megaphone for "gammons"

I hope he enjoys his pieces of silver.

Holmes has "form" for some whackadoodle beliefs.

However, he caused controversy last year on This Morning when he cast doubt on media outlets that had debunked the myth that 5G causes coronavirus.

"What I don't accept is mainstream media immediately slapping that down as not true when they don't know it's not true," he said at the time.

On the bright side, GB News does seem to be proving quite an effective monkey trap for getting some high profile broadcasters we're better off without off of channels where there's any danger of anyone watching them.

"I've been alongside the Prime Minister since the pandemic hit and he's led from the front, with clarity and confidence and never flinched from difficult decisions."

Bit if a mispronunciation there, it should of course be “he lied from the front”.

I think Boris should ask Santa for a stab proof back protector for Christmas. :p
