I'm just wondering if this is speculation on Andy's part or something he's actually seen somewhere. He often posts comments without a reference, and they often turn out to be things that have actually happened.

Is there anything that suggests that there is a "big fish" caught up in it? Link please.

There are two other MPs that we know of who fell for the attacks from Wragg's details, including one in Leicestershire (given the involvement of Leicestershire police, IIRC).

We have to assume that the aim was either to get as many MPs as possible or to use the details from a backbencher to get to a minister and someone with more influence.

We do need to know for reasons of national security, which other MPs have compromised themselves and if they gave out details that let their subsequent contacts be attacked in different ways as well.

Had Wragg just been stupid and blundered into a honeytrap by himself I would be inclined to just dismiss it as stupidity and move on, that he share the personal information of others in an effort to extricate himself makes it a serious issue, why has he not been suspended from parliament? Of course it's rhetorical question, its because Sunak can't risk yet another byelection loss.

I suspect a lot of Tory colleagues will be very unhappy with him and the Standards committee will be very hard on him.

It doesn't explain why Sunak fails to do the easy thing that's also the right thing, which is to immediately remove the whip.

It's like he's trying to mess up and look weak.

But according to some Tory goon or other on Radio 4 yesterday evening it was a very cunning plan by some very cunning blackmailers who were so cunning that absolutely anyone would have been taken in by their cunningness, so it was no surpise that Wragg fell for the cunning.

Nothing to do with a bloke just following his dick, no, not that at all: cunning, cunning and cunning.

Phil Moorhouse on YouTube "A different bias" pointed out that in the year Wragg became an MP, there was a cyber security campaign for middle school aged kids called "I saw your willy" advising them to not send such photos to strangers.

Just a feeling from the party reaction.

Carol Vordeman agrees with you

The William Wragg case becomes more curious
🔹he gave ministers and MPs numbers to "Charlie" who he met on Grindr
🔹"Charlie" told a number of MPs that he had been an intern in Wragg's office in Westminster
🔹when asked by some MPs, Wragg lied and said that "Charlie" had been an intern
🔹2 of the MPs sent explicit pics to "Charlie" or a female phisher "Abi"
🔹one or more Tory ministers are involved
🔹Wragg has not been suspended with Tory party unusually saying Wragg was a victim
🔹Knowing the Tories, I suspect the party is hiding a bigger story which will reveal itself in the coming days

I'm no expert on these things, but there's a definite turnipy miasma hanging over this whole debacle.

According to the Mail Angela Rayner is proven to have lied and committed both electoral and tax fraud. She now faces criminal conviction. If Starmer doesn't fire her now the scandal will bring down his leadership and open him to prosecution too.
