indeed, Palestine did exist as a seperate territorial unit, between 1922 and 1948.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandate_Palestine

..ouch. ;)

'Palestine' as an independent/separate territory has never existed. The League of Nations was responsible for it, and then the U.N. when the Mandate was terminated.

No self declared Palestinian 'state' existed, ever.

Sorry.

But suppose you're right. That would make Lebanon and Jordan occupying powers of the Palestinians.

I haven't heard you mention the Jordanian and Lebanese occupation of 'Palestine' in a while.

Jordan resides today where Palestine used to be, I'd say they're a big part of the story.

fine, I'll play along.

guess what? Jordan became seperate from Palestine in 1922.

in what year did the Palestine Mandate officially begin? 1923.

so, that means, as far as the official Mandate of Palestine is concerned, Jordan was NEVER part of it.

So did eventually Israel.

If you read your own links, Israel and Jordan were born out of the British Mandate, and they both became independent countries, but for some reason Israel is the "occupier".

So did eventually Israel.

this is what is called "revisionism".

Israel never became "seperate" from Palestine. Palestine BECAME Israel.

oy vey.

#1. The Palestine Mandate officially began in 1923. This is a fact.
Jordan was seperated from Palestine, before this took place...before the
Mandate commenced in 1923. These are facts.

#2. When Jordan occupied the West Bank, THEY were the Occupying Power.
and their annexation of the West Bank was basically recognized by no
one.

You just showed a link about the Mandate of Palestine, Are you now saying that was not Palestine?

I admit, its a bit confusing. But according to the article in Wikipedia, the official Palestine Mandate didn't actually begin officially until 1923, when Herbert Samuel became the first High Commissioner of Palestine..in 1923.

what exaxtly do we call Palestine before 1923..including the part that is today Jordan? I'm not sure. But again, the article is clear: the Mandate of Palestine officially commenced after Jordan was seperated from Palestine.

....ok, it actually appears that "The British Mandate for Palestine" and "Mandate Palestine", are two seperate things.

ah..it appears that the British Mandate only began under League of Nations authority, in 1923.

it existed before then, but not with international recognition...I guess. :boggled:

Why don't you call it Palestine? :boggled:

It wasn't Jordan, it was called Transjordan.

Apparently, excising Transjordan from Palestine is OK, but excising Israel from Palestine is bad.
