QUOTE -- "The Jewish State was never conceived as anything other than a state for Jews and nobody else."

From the Declaration of Independence -
http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/Dec_of_Indep.html

"THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations."
THAT's what Israel is about, to this very day.

These are very Noble Words...but they are just words. The Truth is Land Theft, Apartheid and Murder.

I'm still unsure why exactly Jews are so special that they get their own special word for 'racism', when that is all that it is.

It's an accident of history which can be easily looked up on Wikipedia. I hope you're not really as hostile over it as your tone suggests.

There is also a special word for 'radical Jews' - "Zionists". I view Zionists as the Jewish equivalent of radical Muslims (see ISIS)

The problem is that's not what "Zionism" means. If you think it does, you should look up that too.

Land theft, apartheid, murder... You keep repeating it like a mantra but not everybody agrees with those assessments. Do you have supporting evidence?

Which is why one would look to evidence to see what was correct.

Yes, and after presenting evidence for a spherical Earth again and again, some people still don't agree with that assessment. Just like some people, after having been presented evidence for land theft, apartheid and murder by Israel again and again, still don't agree with that assessment.

You do understand how skepticism works, correct?

Is the Flat Earth Society being wronged by skeptics who don't answer their requests for evidence?

So again, you don't want to answer questions and have nothing to say.

And after presenting evidence for a flat earth again and again, some people still don't agree with that assessment either.

You may imagine yourself to be some enlightened scientist fighting against delusions, but you aren't. You're the flat-earther, caveman.

Compared to Saddam Hussein and the AL Assad dynasty, Israel is a drop in the bucket in terms of cruelty in the middle east. While everyone else would have met rockets with nerve gas, Israel has been developing ways to minimise civilian casualties.

I'm interested in what you think Israel and Hezbollah should talk about. Should they compromise? Perhaps Hezbollah only gets to kill half the Jews and destroy half of Israel?

Now I'm interested in how they should talk, since normally talk is just words.

My vote is for interpretive dance.

Well, that's exactly what they are doing right now...staring at each other across the border and daring one another to "Bring it on" while they both "Monkey Dance" and show how bad they are.. Of course, neither side wants to "Bring it on", for the last throwdown was destructive enough to make the point that further hostilities are pointless. So...since they are communicating anyways, why not open up a dialogue and try for some peace?

Again, what do they have to talk about? Hamas wants the Jews dead and their country destroyed. Hezbollah wants their country destroyed, maybe or maybe not the Jews dead. Do you expect Israel to meet them halfway on this?

What makes you think Hezbollah has any interest in peace with Israel? That would be against their self-interest.

Likewise, would peace with Hezbollah be against Israel's self-interest?

In my view, it would be a net gain for Israel. It would provide an increased degree of stability, dramatically reduce the area requiring patrol, and undermine her enemies to no end. The Iranian thugocracy would experience an epidemic of head explosions.

For Hezbollah, it would be a net loss- to say the least. The worldwide "anti-Zionist" circus would would burn them at the stake as traitors.

Maybe so. Maybe not.

At least this is a well-reasoned argument that needs some serious thought and study on my part before I can give a reasonable answer. But...yes. I believe Peace is a benefit to Israel....and a benefit to everyone.

Thanks.
