Huh? You admit one step was removed, the key to that weapon becoming lethal is that one step, but you're still focused on the dreaded GUN. You argue from an emotional position and prove it by putting up a tragedy that was from carelessness, point proven.

If we can, to some extent, use technology to keep a gun from being fired by anyone other than its lawful owner, that sounds like something smart to consider.

a gun is nothing without ammo, that's why ammo is put in another place. When the two get together, one has to have the bullets actually loaded into to the firearm. Even then you still have to kick run into the chamber.

Which makes it even more amazing how many people manage to get shot by a round that wasn't supposed to be in the chamber.

Yes and people get in accidents fiddling with the radio, want to ban that?

Instead of limiting 9 rounds per magazine, how about we just create a law that says you can't chamber a round until you're sure about pulling the trigger, that will solve it.
