Freeman On the Land - A Disturbing Beginning

There is a movie in there somewhere.

A Coen brothers comedy, perhaps?

I can see it now: during the end titles we can show the bloopers, where the actors' masks occasionally slip off to reveal lizards. then everybody laughts and goes 'Ok, let's do another take!'

That should freak some people out. :D

They have a comprehensive page that debunks the legal arguments of these "sovereign citizens". These are summaries of and references to numerous court decisions that rule against arguments about capitalized names or flags with fringe. The things people come up with!

It is going to be interesting to see how long these "Patriot Minutemen" last in a firefight with somebody who is actually trained in small unit tactics. About Ten Seconds is my guess.

It always amazes me how the fringe gun nuts think that having firearms is going to stop "tyranny".

That's why they're hedging their bets:

"Oath Keepers, the military and police organization that was formed earlier this year [2009] and held its April muster on Lexington Green, may be a particularly worrisome example of the Patriot revival. Members vow to fulfill the oaths to the Constitution that they swore while in the military or law enforcement. "Our oath is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and we will not obey unconstitutional (and thus illegal) and immoral orders," the group says. Oath Keepers lists 10 orders its members won't obey, including two that reference U.S. concentration camps."

I'm kind of seeing a musical here. A musical tragedy. A kind of Freeman Bonnie & Clyde. Imagine the epic songs: "We are the awakened" and "I do not consent!". The latter being sung during the climactic courtroom scene which takes place on a ship with Admiral Kirk as the judge and Spock as the prosecuting attorney who just blows them away with his indisputable logic.
But they manage to escape and try to leave the country. But while trying to board a plane without a passport the man is tazered to death by security guards and the woman gets locked away in a padded cell where she spends the rest of her days mumbling to herself: "I do not consent, I am the agent, I am the creditor, these walls are only a fiction, I do not consent, I am the agent, I am the ..... "

The word "sedition" comes immediately to mind.

Many, if not most, of the people involved in this movement back in the day were young, political idealists who were recent or current members of the military or law enforcement. Others were competetive shooters. The CT nutbags and fat, old men playing soldier may have started the movement, but the kids ran with it.

That said, I think it's important to point out that for the most part, the militias were just political posturing.

Thought I'd post this here because it marks the first time I've seen an FotLer posting somewhere other than here or on some woo forum. Context is this Times Online article about body scanners. john marsh offers his thoughts:
1 The Rapiscan is not an x-ray machine it uses "T" rays
2 No one scientifically or Medically qualified has done a study as to the effect of "T" rays on living human tissue.
3 Should I be refused permission to board my flight I will immediately strip totally naked in the security queue and show the staff and everyone that I am clean and have no impediments to boarding.
4) Having been seen naked and proved my innocence beyond doubt I will sue Manchester Airport and the British government for millions for denying me my absolute right to travel under admiralty law the highest law on the planet..
Yes folks, FotLers will now be stripping naked to defend their rights. Now how do we convince Salma Hayek to join their cause?

"T" rays, huh?

Technology Overview
How Does a Secure 1000 Work?

The Secure 1000 bounces very low energy x-rays off of a person to generate an image. This image is then analyzed by an operator to identify concealed potential threats.

US Patent 6 094 472.....

This is one of the things I work on for the Canadian Patent Office.....sigh.

I'm not even sure I want to Google "T rays".....

Okay, looks like T-rays do exist, but that's still not what the Rapiscan guys are using...

The key advances are devices and circuitry that emit and sense radiation in the terahertz band of the electromagnetic spectrum, which extends from the upper edge of microwaves to the near infrared. The rays are reflected by metal but go through most other materials. Water soaks up the radiation, so human tissue, which is mostly water, absorbs it. But unlike X-rays, terahertz rays are thought to be harmless. Terahertz radiation (”T-rays”) can’t penetrate much past your skin, and it lacks the energy to ionize molecules in human tissue the way X-rays do, so it cannot cause cancers by smashing up your DNA. What’s more, the power levels most T-ray imagers produce are lower than that of the infrared LED in your TV remote control.

I thought they didn't "contract" with Admiralty Law?? Isn't that what the gold fringe on the flag in the courts is about?

We're not talking about a group of people who represent the best and brightest here. I have no problem seeing one of these halfwits trying to sue under non-existent law for violation of rights they don't recognise exist.

They keep banging on about enforcing fee schedules yet fail to see where those fee schedules would actually have to go to be enforced :D
