And have for a very long time. Twenty years ago, they were lying about Iraq. Saddam Hussein was pretty much personally responsible for 9/11 and the entire country was a weapon of mass destruction. Then when the war they pushed for went bad, they simply stopped covering it at all.

The worse news is, CPAC has made it clear that the conservative electorate are upset at the Fox anchors who thought the election fraud story was false but reported it anyway - but not because of the "reported it anyway" part, rather because of the "thought it was false" part. As Bannon has made clear, disbelief in the narrative is a thought crime that makes them traitors, even though they still willingly disseminated it.

Carlson could be voicing their feelings, too. Trump is a turd. It's just that he's their turd.

Alternatively, there's also the 'hear what they want to hear' faction. That's quite prevalent in the GOP, at last check. Cherry pick the parts that support their preferred existing narrative and disregard the rest, no matter how big the mountain being ignored is in favor of the anthill. That behavior's hardly limited to the GOP, of course, but has been pretty egregious when it comes to anything Trump related.

Of course, there's always the death threat happy faction, too. There's relatively few people who would be deserving of the fury of that faction more than Carlson, I think.

A quick google says Rupert Murdoch's net worth is around 20 billion. This Dominion trial I've seen an estimated 1.2 billion penalty so if that goes ahead it's only a dent in Murdoch's value. I'm disappointed.

Don't be disappointed. I believe the lawsuit is for 1.6 billion. And, it is possible that treble damages would add 4.8 billion.

The other issue is that Murdoch doesn't have 20 billion laying around. I'm sure some of his wealth is not liquid. If he has to come up with cash, that would cause a LOT of pain. He would have to liquidate assets in a hurry (I know, these guys can drag crap out for a long time, but still). I don't care who you are, 6.4 billion cash is gonna hurt ANYBODY.
