My name's Jeff. I used to post in the Loose Change forums (as jdhammer as well) back when they were at a different site (different host?). And yes, I <sigh> was a truther at one point. My story is all too familiar to you guys I'm sure. I saw Loose Change, recognized a lot of it as BS but somehow clung onto the idea that they might be onto something. I think a big part of it was the fact that I thought some of the people on the Loose Change boards knew what they were talking about. Don't ask me why, but I did. So I guess there was some imagined credibility that I applied to the folk there, and I spiralled down into a strange and dark pit that I don't care to revisit....

Welcome mate,

Once you weigh the evidence, actual peer reviewed scientific evidence, it takes a pretty stubborn person to hold on to some of the conspiracy theories. And that really applies to all things. Basically the LC mindset is - I dont understand it, therfore its not true.

In that case if you cant count hex or binary, stop using your pc.

Welcome to the place where your opinion is absorbed and reality rules. You make a claim you prove it. You have an opinion, its taken as that.

When I first started looking into some truther claims I was initially a tad taken in as well.

This change when I realized

a) they had no experts
b) they loved to ask questions but hated having to answer any

Do you recall the debate? Was ther something which turned the switch on for you? A particular issue or info on a site perhaps?

I wish I could. I don't think it was a particular issue that actually woke me up. It was just the attitude of most of the people on the LC boards.

Someone would say something like "Hey, here's a picture proving that there were in fact raging fires in WTC 7", and immediately, people would attack the guy without even addressing the picture. Also, you'd get the "that's clearly fake" folks coming out as well.

It started with my being turned off by the overall attitude on the boards. Then, when I realized what kind of people I was dealing with, my mind became more critical of their arguments.

At first, I just kind of got all wrapped up in the IMPLICATIONS of their arguments, not the arguments themselves. I guess that makes me feel a little better about having been a truther - I never really firmly believed everything, I just hopped on the bandwagon (I hope that makes sense).

Oh, and by the way jdhammer, the above is an example of the occasional flatulence you're going to have to start dealing with from now on. Think of it as the small price you have to pay for being blessed with a clear, logical, and questioning mind. And if it ever starts to bother you, you can cheer yourself up immeasurably by reminding yourself you're not one of them. Trust me, it helps make whatever troubles you might have to deal with in life seem trivial by comparison.

Maybe if you'd bother to read everything he wrote (and understand it, that'd be nice too), you'd realize it was problems with the twoofers that made him re-think his position.

When I started to wake up (in the intelligent sense, not the truther sense), I started to ask questions on the LC boards. I started to point things out, and basically shine the spotlight on things that truthers don't want a light shone on. It wasn't long before I was attacked from all sides simply for trying to be reasonable about the arguments being made on the boards.

It makes sense to me... I think many of us WANT to think our governments are behind the evils of the world. We already know - whether we want to admit it or not - that our government officials are greedy, corrupt, lying and self-serving. It's not a stretch to go from this to accepting that they are also evil, demented freaks willing to go to great lengths to control the minds of the public.

That's a hard fact a few troothers don't really want to hear - that just because we don't think the gov't was behind 9/11, doesn't mean that we love Bush. I for one would love to see Bush drawn and quartered, slow roasted over an open barbecue pit, or subjected to every single episode of 'Gilligan's Island' in a single sitting.

But I think he's too stupid to play any larger part in all of this other than using it as a convenient excuse to bomb the Middle East again.

Anyway, welcome aboard, keep an open mind, analyze ALL the evidence you're offered, whether from troofer or not, and don't be afraid to challenge someone on any concept or idea they put forth.

One thing which is quite funny to watch

The use of many main stream media (MSM) pictures, articles and videos the truthers jump on and at the same time claim the MSM is in on some vast conspiracy.

Then of course, if you really want a laugh, check out the stundies thread. Seriously, you will be jaw dropped. Yeah it can seem immature, but it reminds us how stubborn people can be and to keep a smile.

When will you bring facts to the table. Bring some facts and you will do much better. Got some?

He has come further than most on 9/11 information, from the lies and fact less conclusions of the 9/11 truth movement to reality. He has a history of understanding beyond most, and with that he can call both sides. Yet when you and Scooby post junk and no facts do not expect positive reinforcement. The comments you now get for your posts of junk are what the teachers wish they could tell you all those years ago.
