As you may have noticed, the problem with obscure books is that they are obscure. We must be patient. Hits will be very seldom.
Still, I got one of two here, which is pretty good.

One book I have been trying in vain to find for many years now is a book of folk/fairy tales I read as a young child. I believe they were Scandinavian in origin; possibly Finnish. I recall Reindeer being mentioned, as well as a story involving fishing. The book was illustrated with primitive-style woodcuts; and had a bright yellow cover with a similar woodcut on the front.

That sounds terribly familiar. Not that I can help at this point, but I am pretty sure I've seen it.
ETA Try East of the Sun and West of the Moon. It's been republished with modern illustrations, but I think its original had a yellow cover and woodcuts.
