If no one was "fired" for letting Powell go before the UN and say we had hard proof that Iraq had WMDs and using that as the justification for our invasion, than certainly nothing Mr. Brown has done should lead to his being "fired" in this situation.
Let's face it, if you can't fire people for giving you bad information that makes you out to be a liar or a fool in front of the whole world, than no one in the Bush Administration should be fierd for anything.
Besides, if Brown is to be fired because his public resumey is dodgey, than the President himself maybe should resign...and that isn't going to happen.
P.S. I remember that Clinton was pilloried and had to fire his Surgeon General because she publicly expressed her medical opinion about the harmlessness of masterbation (or something along those lines). Certainly, Mr. Brown should not be forced to resign until his position on masterbation is made more clear....
P.P.S. yet a further thought...Brown is so clearly in over his head that he should be retained because he should, by now, have developed deep sympathy and understanding of the situation in New Orleans.
P.P.P.S.: He's doing such an outstanding job in spite of the clearly partisan attacks and the Administratino has such confidence in Brown that Homeland Security just announced that they are putting an Admiral in charge of on the ground opperations...clearly, they needed to free Brown up to deal with any of the horse judging implications of the storm as they arise....
