FEMA Camps???

Hi,

European (Overall French... again) conspiracists become nuts when they are talking about those FEMA Camps.

What would be the purpose of these camps? The conspiracists just say: "There are 600 of them, ready to receive prisoners inside, the Bush government is a fascist government !!!111!!!!1!!".

What is the "Rex 84 program"? Does it even exist? I'm not from USA, so I am not aware about all the news about USA (We are just told that there will be presidential elections in November, with a lot of Obamania).

All I know about these FEMA camps is that they are denounciated by... Alex Jones *sigh*.

A few informations would be welcome.

REX 84 was a program which started in 1984.

REX stands for Readiness Excercize and called for practicing rounding up huge numbers of Americans in the event of a Martial-Law declaration. I mean HUGE numbers, and putting them in FEMA camps.

To put it bluntly there are no FEMA detention camps, there never have been any nor will there ever be any. FEMA does practice, and maintains the equipment for, emergency relief camps where displaced people would be housed and taken care of in the event of an emergency. Conspiracy nuts often see FEMA practice drills for this and, astoundingly, conclude they are rehearsing the establishment of concentration camps where political dissidents would be held. This overlooks the fact that if such a thing were established, and trust me there is no chance of it, FEMA would not be in charge of such a thing as they would not have the personnel, equipment or facilities to accommodate huge prisoner camps. The nutters also conflate FEMA practice drills with military exercises where humanitarian aide missions in warring regions are rehearsed. Since these military drills often involve troops practicing to guard refugee camps from enemy attack the astoundingly stupid conclusion was reached by the less informed that they were rehearsing to guard the FEMA concentration camps.

In both cases harmless rehearsals were misconstrued as something sinister.

This has been around since the late 1960's where there were rumors in the Counterculture that the Nixon administration was planning to round up all hippe and dissdents and put them in concentration camps. They even used the same tactic of putting up photos of old, abandoned army camps and claiming they were photos of the concentration camps. The only thing different is that they were not FEMA camps, since FEMA did not exist on the time.
Making FEMA, which ,(leaving the question of how well it had been ran under Bush..not very, IMHO) has as it's mission something about as benign as you can get into some evil SS like organization is an example of Paranoid thinking at it's finest.

I don't really get the whole FEMA camp thing. CT's tell us that the government is going to lead us into a false nuclear war, killing us all then they are going to lead us to these camps. Makes no sense what so ever.

LL, I'm afraid that anyone who points this out will be sneered at as a sheep believing that there is a real difference between the Democratic and Republican parties.
If you were "in the know", as they are, you'd realize that the real power is held by shadowy behind-the-scenes characters who tell the nominal political leaders what to do. And they'd better do it, too.

Still, it does see odd that if this were true, they (whoever they may be) should have to stop the election. After all, it won't affect who really has the power.

You know how FEMA is building a fleet of trains with shackles and modern guillotines so they can chop off our heads as they take us to the FEMA camps. Alex Jones also had a story about pre-made prisons being created to house us all and stuff.

No, the contracts are real. Camps can be used for many purposes, as you have pointed out. I think you might have read too much into my post.
