Feinstein hospitalized..again.

The obvious issue is, the desire to remain productive and active is obviously a strong one. Undoubtedly Feinstein's political career defines her and I can understand her reluctance to walk away from it. A difficult problem can arise when someone's mental well-being begins to deteriorate and they are no longer able to make completely rational decisions about their future.

Is that what we're seeing? That Feinstein's competence has declined and she is unable to process that? That's a tough problem. However, her current term ends next year and she has already announced she will not seek reelection. In the meantime, there have been many calls for her to resign now, including from AOC. So far Feinstein has refused.

No reason to not ask again, I doubt she'll mind.

Real problem here is some Dems just do not want to admit there is a problem with Feinstein's age.

In theory there's not a problem with her age, there's a problem with her health.

If you had a fully compus mentis 90 year old then the situation would be fine, apart from the possibility of them dying because 90. The problem is they're only keeping her going by dark magics at this point.

Or to put it another way, the issue is with her physical health and mental capability, which is why Moscow Mitch should also really be replaced by the GQP.

Yes. Manchin and Sinema.
But that doesn't make McConnell in charge unless Sinema changes to GOP.

Controlling the calendar is what gave McConnell the ability to screw the SCOTUS over.

As for running in 2024, I'm just not seeing it.

Thank you.

How were they supposed to stop her?
By running and voting for someone else in the primary?
Like RBG, she's done the liberal cause a disservice by hanging on too long.
Meh, Gavin will appoint a replacement who's a solid Dem and they will get re-elected by a wide margin. Should be Harris, she's a liability to the Dems as Vice. Makes room for someone that can string together a coherent sentence to be Biden's runnig mate.

Wasn't Robert Bird that famously just slept through Senate hearings. Well known has a puppet of his staff.

Thank you.

I think the age factor is another argument for Term Limits. Granted, they would not solve the problem of age completly.but it would help.
Physicla age aside, I just think 12 years is enough for anybody to serve as a Senator or Representive. The Founding Faters never expeced people to make a career out of elective office.

Counterpoints: If the voters don't have a problem with the candidate's age, what's the problem? And the founding fathers certainly left it up to the voters to give someone a career in politics, if they felt so inclined.

Every election is a referendum on whether the incumbent's term should be limited. Why make it any more of a thing than that? Californians are getting exactly the government they voted for. Who are we to say they're doing it wrong? Let California californicate.
