Fast charging ain't fast. Must be my fault, right? Right?

I just turned mine phone on its side on the charger. Worked. For now.

Might be the USB port or cable connection. I have similar experiences and what was happening is that the I'd plug it in, it would look like everything worked and it was fast charging but as soon as I put the phone done something would wiggle around and it defaulted to slow charging.
 
If wiggling something makes a difference a new cable might be the answer, though with my previous phone the eventual answer was one of those cans of compressed air, to blast the pocket lint out of the charging socket and let the plug go all the way in. But I had that phone 8 years so a lot of fluff got compacted in there.
 
I concur: The cable makes a bigger difference than most people realise. Not all USB-C cables are made equal. Few know or realise that the USB-C cable is ITSELF an USB device (sorta) that signals to the charger (or computer, if plugged into one) how much current it can take. A cable that isn't made for quick charging, will not quick-charge, no matter what your charger can do. The charger will just throttle down to what the cable says it can take.

If only someone thought to include technical information in a thread about a scientific, mathematical, medical, or technological question. It's almost like the real point of this thread is to watch people flail away pointlessly at an under-specified problem.

Which is what I thought Forum Community was for.
 
Well yeah, but it (sort of)makes for a fun challenge to be given almost no information and nail it anyway from meager info?

Eta: part of my work is getting into people's heads and figuring out what they like when they can't even articulate it themselves. It's like a game of 20 questions without the questions, which seems pointless till you get it right anyway

Getting paid to do a job changes things considerably. There is indeed a number of dollars that would cause me to happily set aside the lack of reciprocal respect and effort from the person I'm trying to help.

I dunno- at his last reporting, we may have poke-and-hoped our way to isolating the problematic variable.

It's like a flow chart process of elimination, which surely applies to one type of a scientific method of problem solving? Come up with a hypothesis, experiment and test it, etc?

Trust me- having your professional reputation and the very food on your table tied into someone else's inability to communicate is not some kind of rolling-in-the-jingle fantasy job. You can lose as well as win or draw.
