False Memory Syndrome

What disturbs me about Luci's posts are that Luci is constantly referring to Randi supporting FMS and then connecting FMS to pedophile conspiracy theories.

Luci has pulled this sort of stunt before, and not just with Randi. He/she (I'll use 'he') mentions someones name in association with vile practices, while not actually accusing the person directly.

I'm beginning to think the point of this thread is nothing to do with the false memory debate but a thinly disguised attempt to sling mud at Randi.

Have you actually read any of these legal articles? The authors are not denying FSM, they are saying very clearly that FSM should not be abused to dismiss all cases. I an curious, how do you get access to Cornell Law Review? I have it, I am just curious how you are connecting.

BTW, this is from one of youir cited articles:

"I agree with Dr. Martindale that the recent research on children’s suggestibility has done a lot of good. It has spawned several research programs aimed at improving the process by which children are interviewed about abuse. In appropriate cases, it can educate judges and jurors about the dangers of highly suggestive interviewing with young children. It has largely silenced extremist claims that children’s abuse allegations are never false or that children are no more suggestible than adults."

Steve Grenard also pulled this stunt (and not just with Randi - he has tried it with at least two other persons).

I strongly suspect that it is an attempt to get Google to come up with "(person)" when you search for "pedophiles", and vice versa.

Rubbish. I think Randi has been duped into putting his name to this quackery. The FMS foundation has been thoroughly discredited by skeptics. It has been proven that such a syndrome does not exist. Putting his name to it does skepticism a diservice and I think he's been mislead.

Evidence?

It has been proven that such a syndrome does not exist.

It is not possible to prove that something does not exist.

Explain again why alien abductions do not qualify as false memories?
