Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

If they have to bury him here (U.S.), best to just toss him into an unmarked paupers grave and forget it. Imagine the ongoing desecration that will happen if his final location is ever known. It'd be a heaping shrine to pig poop in no time flat, I'd wager.

I wish I lived in that area. I'd be putting in fake grave markers and leaking the location just to get the videos to post to YouTube.

I think people are actually a lot more intelligent than that. With the exception of the local Frat House crew when they've had too much beer.

One of the protesters posted a video on YouTube. It sounded like they brought their children along.

The uncle of Tamerlane Tsarnaev agreed to claim the body and make funeral arrangements. Now a new problem, according to funeral home director Peter Stefan.

Mr. Stefan said Mr. Tsarni requested a simple graveside service, after the body is washed in accordance with Muslim custom. None of that can happen until Mr. Stefan finds a burial place; as of Friday afternoon, he had been turned down by several cemeteries.

“You call and they say, ‘We don’t want to do it,’ ” said Mr. Stefan, who said he would seek help from the F.B.I. or the state if he kept getting rejected.

“I’m not burying a terrorist, I’m burying a dead body,” Mr. Stefan said. “We’re trying to exercise some character here.”

What really stunned me is, Tsarnaev's parents in Russia were apparently not interested in their son's funeral arrangements.

“Why didn’t they send him to Russia?” Ms. Rivera [Worcester Mass. council person] asked.

“They didn’t want him either,” said Mr. Stefan, who heard last week from friends of Mr. Tsarnaev’s family.

Given Dzokhar Tsarnaev's statements to the FBI that he and his brother assembled the bombs in his brother's Cambridge apartment, authorities are looking at whether Katherine Russell Tsarnaev was aware that they were making a bomb. If she was than she could possibly face criminal charges.

Neighbors and friends doubt that she did know, or at least understand, what her husband was planning.

On April 19, as the news spread that the Tsarnaev brothers were believed to have committed the marathon bombings and gone on a nightlong crime spree that involved the fatal shooting of a campus police officer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a carjacking and a gunfight with the police in which Tamerlan was killed, a neighbor knocked at the door of their third-floor apartment in Cambridge, where Ms. Russell had apparently just heard the news from a relative. “She was in utter shock,” the neighbor said. “Utter shock.”

I think it's possible she did know what Tamerlane and Dzokhar Tsarnaev were doing -- assembling explosives -- but without fully understanding the enormity of it. This part of the story is hard to understand. I find Katherine Russell Tsarnaev difficult to fathom.

What was she thinking?

Or she wasn't there when they worked on the bombs. I read that she worked very long hours to provide for the family (70-80 hours per week). There would have been plenty of time for her husband and brother-in-law to busy themselves with bomb-making. Plus they were able to converse in a language she didn't understand, so overheard phone conversations etc. might well have left her in the dark.

Good points.

Indeed.

We could speculate further. Perhaps as a new convert, she aggressively adopted the subservience required of devout muslim women, or the jihadist leaning of her husband or even was incredibly moronic and didn't even realise what the brothers were doing. Perhaps she colluded as a co-conspirator. There are any amount of possibilities. Best to let the investigation take it's course.

There is one thing that I find a little odd. Given that her husband is dead and her brother in law is awaiting the death penalty/life in prison, the vague smirk she seems to have in recent photographs is just...strange.

So you can judge guilt by a person's smirk captured on camera? Do you have any scientific basis for this opinion?

I don't see any smirk.

On another note, I heard that early on, the FBI could not find evidence the bombs were made in the apartment. They expected to find powder left behind from the process, but there was none, and so there was a mystery about where they were assembled.

Now, people in this thread say that Djhokhar claimed they were indeed made in the Cambridge apartment.

Did I simply hear early and mistaken rumors? Anyone know?

The news media is reporting the FBI says Dzokhar Tsarnaev has told them the bombs were assembled in the Cambridge apartment. I don't recall seeing stories the FBI said they found no traces in the apartment. Maybe you could try and find that?

Not a single bit. It simply struck a discordant note.

And you believe that this was tho only photo the news had available to print so they would have nothing to do with selection of the image that you were presented with?

I really don't know why you have such an irrational hang up about this.

Let me once again state once again:

The images struck a discordant note. That is a personal observation, nothing more.

There is no evidence of anything else to be gleaned from the images. NOTHING. NADA. RIEN DU TOUT.

So have a freebie. You win this risible, insignificant, meaningless point. Have a nice lollipop as a prize.

Abandon, do you still think your own action was rational? To me it looked like you were joining the mob to throw rocks at the accused. But then, that's just my personal observation.
