Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

Frankly, I would like to see somebody at CNN..which broke the arrest made story...fired over a fiasco like this, but I am not holding my breath.

To be fair, it wasn't only CNN reporting it. AP also did and the Boston Globe website says their sources also told them that someone had been taken into custody.

So you don't have free speech. Gottit

Free speech = free from government sanctions. Nobody is being censored. If you have an axe to grind, the USA Politics thread is thattaway ======>

I have CNN on.

Now they are showing some still images of the injured guy running away that is in the video on the IMGUR link that Noah posted.

He's the only guy running away, everyone else is either in shock or helping.

Look again. Quite a few people in the lower half of the picture are running away too

CNN's mea culpa exemplifies what's wrong with the "get the scoop, who cares if it's accurate" mentality that led to this:

The restaurant I was having lunch at had CNN on, and their whole explanation made me almost spit up my Hot and Sour Soup.
God,why cannot journalist ssimply say "We made a mistake. We Blew it". I don't expect perfection, but I do expect that they be honest if they make a mistake and admit it. The arrogance of Journalist is just freaking disgusting at times.
And one of the CNN talking heads made a statement I could not beleive. Her argument was "It does not matter if the arrest is made six months from now because the attack has already been made"...and that is almost a exact quote. That the perp or perps might plan and make other attacks in that six month period seems to have slipped her mind...

This was a huge moment that CNN blew bigtime. Shame on them for prematurely reporting arrest of suspect. There are enough lies circulating about this story, and considering the panic each one is magnified. Let's get our facts straight, shall we?

That explanation is so stupid I think it just gave me brain ulcers.

Seriously, it's a nun's short hair away from a 5 year old saying, "Why should I take a bath when I'm just going to get dirty again?!"

Requesting is not removing free speech. The person who I believe does not have free speech is the one who leaks the information. That should be stopped.

Thats an interesting definition of freedom of speech!

You can say whatever you want and any negative consequence are a violation of that freedom of speech?

If a reporter refuses to stop reporting false information about an investigation then the investigator(s) are free to criticize that reporter.

FBI Cancelled a schuduled news conference on the Boston investigation. I wonder if the fiasco this morning has caused them to adapt a "no talking to the media except if we have something definate to say" approach, and that the "sources" within the Justice Department have dried up. Can't blame them for doing that.
