Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

He may have already dropped the bomb. The tan pack is another one he is carrying that does not contain a bomb?

IOW, he starts out with two backpacks then drops only one which contains the bomb.

Which is why one proffered excuse for not releasing the pictures yesterday ("Don't want to spook them") is patent nonsense.

I wonder what the real reason is, assuming they have one.

I may have answered the question of what is sitting in front of that fence next to the mailbox. There are two ladies watching the race. One has a soft white shopping bag and the other has a tan handbag with straps. At some point they set them down on the ground on the race side of the fence - the tan bag on top of the white one - and watch the race some more.

These photos have been used by people to say "look, first no bomb... then a bomb."

The shoes don't match, neither does the backpack (no X on the back). I think of all the images on the IMGUR link, they all look like false alarms. The two exceptions are the guy in black bent over the bag on the ground. You cannot see what he looks like so he is still consistent with the suspect in front. And the second one is the guy (maybe the same guy) crouched in the doorway after the bomb blast at the first site. Check out the hat. But he still has the backpack so that's inconsistent.

Do you suppose he could have had a backpack inside a backpack? Or maybe the hat doesn't really match?

The guy crouched in the doorway after the blast has khaki pants and white forwards hat. He is not one of the FBI suspects.

Some ridiculous comments on news articles covering this. One for example claimed they were disgruntled ex-soldiers because he had the backup slung over one shoulder like a rifle!

The best comment I saw though noted that, based on the comments, the men's race is "rorschach"!

White hat? You're doing it again, the suspect in front has khaki pants and the Bridgestone golf hat in AdMan's image.

I was about to post though, that the hat logo doesn't match after all.
