End Times Bible prophecy for beginners

Coast to Coast AM... and you want us to take it seriously?
Like anyone is going to take references to Coast To Coast Radio seriously.
If you really want to discuss this writer, we should probably start a new thread.
I just happened to see that the radio show corresponds to a current thread topic.
Is there some reason compelling your objections to Chuck Missler as a worthwhile opinion concerning "End Times Bible prophecy"?

Ladewig said it best:
If you had said, " here is a investment algorithm for deciding which companies to invest in" and then proceeded to give those credentials, you would have really had my attention. Of if you had a said, "here is a design for a new defense missile" and then proceeded to give those credentials, you would have really had my attention. But when talking about end-times prophecies, those particular credentials are a text book definition of appeal to authority.

I don't understand. You do not want very educated, well-rounded, experienced and otherwise entirely respectable opinions? So who then? Seminary professors? Ministers? You are willing to hear about this from who exactly?

Or you just oppose hearing or considering the subject, the opinion, the perspective regardless?

Otherwise, I do not understand your point. We're not talking about agreeing or disagreeing but about who is acceptable to even listen to or hear?

End time prophecies have a wonderful track record of 0 hit in several thousand years. Qualifications matter little.

It's like presenting Einstein's credentials to support his opinion on the taste of rainbows.

America is Mystery Babylon. That is why it is a mystery to American Christians, who don't understand why of all nations on earth America is not mentioned in the Bible anywhere.

The reason America is mystery Babylon. However when China invades America in a few years under a UN mandate with a treasonous American president's permission to do so, then America will understand who she is spiritually. Mystery Babylon represents a spiritual prostitute, harlot who once had the truth but left her faith to go do some tricks.

Jesus likes prostitute, Mary Magellan was Jesus' best friend. So America like Mary Magellan who come home to Jesus once she is sick and tired of being hooker looking for loans and handouts from countries like China, Japan and all the rest. Doing their bidding like a hooker rather than taking care of the American people. Jesus will receive America back when the majority of her people seek him. Until then America will continue to fall. Jesus loves naked hookers.

As far as living is concerned and doing all those things, yes do them. Just don't ignore the fact that you must make your own search for God. You can blame whoever you want, but from God's point of view if you do not seek him yourself regardless of all the crap you find in organized religion you are without excuse.

That search is simple. Speak to the air and say will the real God reveal himself to me and show me the truth. That's it, that all it takes to put it in God's court. Some of you have already done that. If you have then it is still in God's court and you will hear from him.

Well the ball's been in gods' court for 47 years now.

It would help your understanding if you read up on what the fallacy of argument from authority is.

So what credentials are acceptable to satisfy your objections? Just tell me.

Why is this guy apparently automatically not good?

Who is?

Twizzlers aren't a major player of the modern world stage.

Yes, that is exactly the point. It takes a lot to trust that someone can predict the far future. Seeing mere permutations of things John is familiar with makes the predictions quite mundane.

Hey, you can't expect an all knowing god to actually, well, predict the future now can you? :p

Putting it another way, it is certainly possible to gain credentials as an expert on end time prophecies. However, the expertise lies in gathering information on how many of them there has been, the difference between the cultural regions of the world, and - and this is probably the most interesting part, really - what caused the delusions in the first place. Stuff like that, one can legitimately study.

If somebody proclaims themselves an end time prophet, on the other hand, the expertise has, in all the thousands and thousands of end time claims so far, added up to exactly zero. Anyone claiming any expertise insofar that he thinks these claims has any truth in them will therefore be overwhelmingly likely to be telling falsehoods. Chuck Missler isn't the first, won't be the last, and in 50 years time, probably won't even be remembered, as he's not original in the slightest (as someone who's done a fair bit of layman study of end time prophets and their delusions, I can tell you this with a certain amount of expertise).

And of course, the Bible predicted the End Times to come while people who had been hanging out with Jesus would still be alive. That's really all one needs to know about how trustworthy a source that book is conserning end times.

Seriously. Look up "argument from authority".

It's not that he's "not good". End of times prophecies is a field of knowledge (and I use this term in the loosest sense) so devoid of anything that could pass for actual knowledge that no qualification makes anybody better suited than anybody else. (ETA: Obviously, I fully concur with the nuance Hawk one mentioned.)

Show me a guy that made a single successful end of times prophecy and I'll trust that guy.

You realize, that since the specifics of what you stated in the paragraph above are not in the bible, that you are making an interpretation here. The other thing about it is that I once belonged to an xian group that believed the exact same thing. That was 40 years ago. We were sure all of that would happen in the 80's. We were SO sure. But that happens when one goes around interpreting works of fiction like we used to pore over the pictures on The Beatles albums covers in the 60's looking for clues. That's why I say the "beginner" reference in the thread title applies to you. You are preaching old hat. This has been done to death and it ain't gonna happen.

Mary Magellan? Never heard of her, but I bet it would be easy to locate her.

She's a naked prostitute who will take you "around the world".

Did you read my post? In it I mentioned that he spends three chapters on equidistant letter sequences. That, in and of itself, is three strikes. There is no message hidden in the KJV, ASV, or NIV that is not also "hidden" in Moby Dick, War and Peace, or Atlas Shrugged.

Most of the rest of the book is numerology based on the English language. Please explain why this guy should be taken more seriously than a person who wrote an end-times book based on the tea leaves found in a cup.

Before I do go I want to say the English findings are about choice. The findings cannot be duplicated in any other language. Keep it simple, see if you can make one numeric alphabet of any Language then take the proper name of Jesus, Muhammad and Lucifer and spell it in their language. Then calculate it and see if you can make them come up any same total for all three names using only one numeric alphabet. If the language you use does not have a numeric alphabet then create one for it. Then make those three come up any same total using only one numeric alphabet.

You will never do it. See you when I'm finished with my vacation. Had some down time, so I thought I'd spend some of it here. See Yah

This doesn't change the fact that you're just cherry picking good words or bad words from a huge list generated from a hash. In the other language, if it has a simple alphabet, you're mathematically expected to be able to do this.

Is a numeric alphabet merely assigning numbers to letters ? Ok...

French: Jesus, Mohammed and Lucifer. Hey, one of the names is different. Should be good enough, eh?

Jesus: 100 + 2 + 8 + 9 + 8 = 127

Mohammed: 33 + 12 + 6 + 5 + 33 + 33 + 2 + 3 = 127

Lucifer: 11 + 9 + 22 + 46 + 19 + 2 + 18 = 127

That was fun.

The Rapture, first of all is ********, it is a 19th century invention of a Scottish Minister and a 15 year old girl having visions. The Book of Revelations is not PROPHECY, it is actually a political rant against the Roman Empire. The book is basically a sarcastic BLOG post.

That's quite a claim. And an obviously wrong one, since it can be duplicated in French. Since you're still hanging around, care to tell us how many other languages you tried this on?
