...But the people that actually shape our world could at least take some responsibility and try to keep it nice, rather than give in to the same mindless existence that all the other humans live...
I have absolutely no objections to people... especially people in charge... cleaning up the world. I don't believe that anyone wants dirty air or water.
However, I wonder if greenhouse gas emissions has anything at all to do with GW. We could very well be looking at a solar event.
For one thing, there is global warming on Mars. The sad part about this is that NASA released this news back in December of 2001. We've known about global warming on Mars for 4 1/2 years.
Then, in April 2004, UC Berkeley released the fact that there is global warming on Jupiter. We've known about that for two years.
We also know that we are in a trend of unusual solar activity known as the Modern Maximum. It's similar in character to the Medieval Maximum, with an extrordinary amount of solar activity that was playing havoc with communications on Earth. We have records of sunspots (which indicate solar storms) going back thousands of years. The sheer numbers during the Medieval Maximum and the Modern Maximum jump out at you in comparison with "normal" sunspots.
Astronomers who knew about the history of the unprecedented sunspot counts during the Medieval Maximum and the historians who knew about the unprecedented good weather during the Medieval Warm Period did not know until very recently that they were talking about the same period. They even had different names for the same event. Britain had a thriving wine industry during the MWP using grapes that presently grow only in warm areas such as California and the Mediteranian. The Norsemen were doing their long-range explorations during that time because they were prompted by "the good weather"... they weren't afraid of being locked out of their home ports by winter ice.
The Modern Maximum, in astronomers terms, looks almost identical to the Medieval Maximum... and we're once again talking about warm weather.
So today we have three planets under the same sun that are all warming.
Am I the only one on Earth who sees a potential connection between GW and the sun pouring billions of tons of superheated matter into our upper atmosphere?
I suspect that the problem here is that climatologists and astronomers are each existing in their own little universes and do not talk to each other enough.
