At this point I don't think it's necessary to get a confession from you, but it would be nice if "footers" got an apology :)

Why does anyone owe a footer an apology for anything? Some of those that holler the loudest have done far worse to their fellow footers OS.
 
'Footers should be down on their knees thanking the hoaxers. If it weren't for hoaxers, they'd have to find something productive to do with their lives! :)

In any case, nobody owes anybody an apology for a silly prank. It's not the prankers' fault that a bunch of gullible people got all excited and made a big deal out of something so silly. If anyone should be apologizing, the 'footers should be apologizing for being so incredibly gullible as to make themselves look bad.

If you're determined to find someone "guilty", though, I'll happily take the "blame". It's all my fault. I done dood it. Yup, it's me.

OS, I don't mean to be rude or sententious but who told that the tracks were the "real deal" and who told they were faked and why did you choose to believe those who claimed they were real? You did make a choice, didn't you? Nobody but you is responsible for your choice IMO.

And yes, the bigfoot phenomena is real. Real but built by hoaxes, myth-twisting and misidentifications, without a real bigfoot at its core.

Whether you believe Sasquatch exists or not, the fact is there's a lot of hoaxing going on. If it was so easy to uncover the "stupid" hoaxer in this instance, why did anyone go out in the field to investigate? Shouldn't the researchers be wary of ANY claim they receive?

At any rate, where is the evidence of the hoax? I'm not suggesting the evidence doesn't exist, mind you. But if the BFFers want to expose the hoaxer publicly, they should be prepared to prove it publicly. Don't tell me Tontar is the hoaxer. Show me.

John Green should apologize for creating "America's Abominable Snowman" based on phony tracks and dubious stories.

Jeff Meldrum should apologize for misleading folks about Gigantopithecine living in our hinterlands.

Matt Moneymaker should apologize for being Matt Moneymaker.

An inevitable result of this event is that people are asking, "how does one distinguish a real bigfoot track from a fake?" Leaving aside for the moment the obvious, it is fun to observe the cult response: "don't tell! That would help the hoaxers!" thereby 1) excluding a scientific approach and 2) acknowledging that hoaxers can hoax Bigfoot tracks.

Why has Meldrum never exposed any hoaxed tracks or done any papers on the science of hoaxing tracks? Seems like the obvious scientific approach to Bigfoot for a track expert. Oh wait....bloodhounds...boobage...blimps...book signings...
