Correct, Avery has the mental clarity to know that this is his shot, his one and only attempt to become what he desires. That being the super star, the big Hollywood director, the person that everybody acknowledges.
Whether he does this through the correct methods is incidental, for in his eyes the ends justify the means. He has seized upon an opportunity to become famous, rich and respected.
He may well become the former two but respect is something he will never gain because he will have bought his fame and wealth on the backs of the deaths of innocent people he mocks.
In the dim and distant future when he becomes what he aspires to be and finally walks down the red carpet to the flash of cameras, to collect his Oscar, Grammy or whatever, some punk will slither up to him and say
"Hey Dylan , remember me? I helped you out; I was one of the small guys that propped up your insane believes years ago "
He will reply” Like those I mocked before I now mock you. Don't bother me, I am important, I have made it. I am the American dream and all I did to make it was spout garbage"
