It's not like it would be a huge revelation that that wasn't the first time that they were looking for work or that people in somewhat similar circumstances and with similar goals interact and work together. Even if those others were MS-13 gang members, that doesn't mean that everyone that they interact with, work with to get paid for their labor, or are friendly with are "bad news." It's basically like you're arguing that because someone has a terrible co-worker that they maintain pleasantries with to not provoke pointless unpleasantness, they are terrible people themselves.
