Merged Due process in the US

Come on now. The president did not exceed his authority and invent a new crime. The criminal penalties are spelled out in the relevant law. The Press Secretary spoke truthfully to the public. Nothing in what she said, nor in the EO she refers to, suggests bypassing due process. In fact there are several passages in the EO that suggest the opposite. @Tero , take note.
What are your thoughts on Trump suggesting we deport violent American citizen criminals to El Salvador?

Abrego Garcia was, at the time of his unlawful capture and rendition, properly registered as an alien and protected from deportation to El Salvador by a perfectly lawful court order. Your moral disapprobation is simply irrelevant.

Snipped lots of good stuff but this is possibly key. He was deported illegally and his civil rights were violated illegally. But those that did it have no fear of legal retaliation as they are protected by the president's pen

‘Treated like a criminal': US citizen says he was detained returning from Canada
Bachir Atallah, a real estate attorney from New Hampshire, says he and his wife, Jessica Fakhri, were stopped crossing from Canada into Vermont

Maybe this posting should have gone into the "Leopards eating People's Faces" thread....

From your reference:
"I really thought things would change after this administration, when we have Mr. Trump in office, things would change to the better," Atallah said. "Things actually changed to the worse."

(Not sure if he was a "trump supporter" but since he thought Trump would "make things better" I think its safe to assume he was.)

You have no evidence that he paid income tax. Day laborers who solicit work at Home Depot are paid in cash and its all off the books.

Had he applied for asylum when he first got here, like he should have, it would have likely been approved and he given a permit to work in the USA legally, with all the wonderful taxes that come with it.

Kinda sad how you guys refuse to acknowledge his many mistakes and poor choices.
None of this matters in the slightest.

He was still entitled to due process and his deportation was illegal. And with very scary implications. Especially the adminstrations refusal to abide by court orders.

I think a peaceful outcome is still possible, but it all depends on what happens in the next election. If the electiion is stolen or corrupted by the GOP, then a lot of people will think 'The Appeal To Arms" is the only path to take. I already , from personal experince, know a lot of liberals are rethinking their oppostion to gun ownership.
My hope is that they have started eating the wrong faces too soon. Those minor functionaries who would be implementing a lot, but who've just found their 401k is getting trashed, their medical expenses are rising, their federal services and jobs are threatened etc.

Some would argue the ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Earth is flat, too. People saying ◊◊◊◊ doesn't mean anything.

Working to build communities shows lack of respect? Getting gainful employment and paying taxes is showing a lack of respect? Did this make sense in your head before you said it out loud?

All you've done is make constant excuses as to why he shouldn't be here, and why he's the problem. Yes, yes, we all see you put this little asterisk statement at the end of it, but it's transparent as hell.
You have to admit, he did wear a hoodie and a Bulls cap.

Some would argue that coming to a country illegally and working illegally in that country for years, is at the very least a sure sign of dishonesty and total lack of respect for the nation where you live.
What "some would argue" is irrelevant. The nation made a specific guarantee to him which it failed to uphold. You're working so very hard to cast aspersions on his character, and it seems the only conclusion you wish to draw from those aspersions is that he got what he deserved.

Yup. Even those found guilty deserve justice. And he's not been found guilty

There is something inside of you that keeps saying "We should be deporting more brown people." I encourage you to question why you hold that belief.

I have never said he deserves anything other than Due Process. That is the only thing he clearly deserves.
Well, if Abrego Garcia is not pure enough for you, how about Merwil Gutierrez?
On Feb. 24, Merwil and two friends were outside his apartment building in the Bronx when they were detained by the immigration officials.

"The officers grabbed him and two other boys right at the entrance to our building," Merwil’s father, Wilmer Gutiérrez, told Documented, before claiming, "One said, 'No, he's not the one,' like they were looking for someone else. But the other said, 'Take him anyway.' "

Weeks later, Wilmer was able to speak to his son on the phone, who told him that he was being held in Pennsylvania and expected to be sent back to his native Venezuela. However, he was ultimately transported to CECOT, the super prison in El Salvador that the U.S. contracted to house deported immigrants.

Merwil’s family insists he has no criminal record or gang affiliations. He came to the U.S. with his father, grandfather and cousin in 2023, fleeing political and economic instability in Venezuela. He had a court date for his asylum case scheduled for 2027...

Better not post any opinions that might "potentially disrupt" the MIddle East Peace Process.

That's a pre-crime.
The scary thing is, that memo is enough to justify the removal of the person. It happened in another case, where the defense tried in vain to challenge the underlying evidence for the assertion. The judge rule that the memo was enough.

Yep, this corrupt administration is testing what they can get away with. If they get away with this, they can do it to any citizen.
