I believe there are actually two instances, one a 10 year old American citizen deported to Mexico while recovering from brain cancer, and what I have read is that the parents actively want to find a way for her to return. The other a four year old, also a citizen, undergoing treatment for stage four cancer, and now deprived of medication and treatment, was sent to Honduras, though I have not seen reports of what the parents say.
But I urge some people to think just a moment: I don't know who here has or has had children, but do you really trust any news source that alleges that the parents of a child undergoing treatment for cancer were OK with having that child deported? And though of course leaving your child alone when you are not permitted to remain is indeed finding yourself between a rock and a hard place, I think it would take a very bizarre and distorted view of what is important in life and society to suggest that this tiny, nearly invisible subset of illegal immigrants, is so important and so in need of immediate deportation that it behooves our once-admirable country to put them in that position.
Aside from the question of whether or not these actions are somehow legal, or some pettifogging flummery can be summoned to justify them, or what "I'm only following orders, talk the the boss" dodge can be found, is this really what it's come down to? Is no price too high?
Seriously, people need to think and think hard: is this really the kind of world you want?
