We'll be doing another Drinking Skeptically at TAM this year. Is anyone interested in helping coordinate?
This needs coordination?
Minimal, but yes. Believe it or not, there were folks who *couldn't find* us last year.
Seriously? As in couldn't find the bar, or couldn't find the 50 people gathered within?
I recommend the Yard House http://www.yardhouse.com/. Great selection & service.

It was a helluvalot more than that. I counted at least 100 people at one point. With folks entering and leaving the entire evening.
Are you considering having another organization co-sponsor? Specifically, I'll be there as will some others who volunteer for Center for Inquiry, Washington, DC. We'd been discussing the potential for hosting a Drinking Skeptically at TAM as you did last year. It seems silly to have two separate events (although I'll admit the level of drinking at TAM ought to support itWe'll be doing another Drinking Skeptically at TAM this year. Wait, I misread the thread. I saw your location as NY, and thought you were talking about NECSS II. Which is why I mentioned Friday night.
Anyhow, where was this "Drinking Skeptically" at last year at TAM? Somewhere other than the Del-Mar Lounge at the Southpoint?
It was at the Silverado Lounge.
I am of the opinion that "drinking skeptically" is something a heck of a lot of TAM attendees are going to do, anyway, every evening.
I can see the purpose of Drinking Skeptically events, in general, as a good excuse for rational-minded people to congregate. I almost always attend the one in NYC, even though I don't even drink.
But, TAM already provides the excuse for congregating. Do we really need to organize a DS as TAM?
If the answer to the above question is "YES!", perhaps Scrut's idea is best: Just have it where everyone else is going to be, anyway, which is likely the Del Mar bar. It will be like any other TAM evening, except perhaps with more NYC Skeptics pins being passed around, or something.
I kinda failed to see the point of having it at the Silverado, last year, sooo far away (in terms relative to a casino floor) from the normal hang out.
