Drag Shows!!

Who knew there were such things as drag brunches!

Am I correct in concluding that the event was a harmless, joyful bit of fun with little or no sexual content/innuendo, in which nobody (especially *swoons* the ickle children) got groomed or sexually abused....?
 
At this point I can only invoke the "Everything the Right pretends to be afraid of is a confession" rule and assume that Republicans are using library reading time to prey on children.

While most drag brunches are all ages, they are not kid friendly. Outfits and music is more Beyonce and Lizzo than the Dolly Parton and Meghan Trainor vibe of a drag story time.

But we like Beyonce and Lizzo in our house. I knew parents that would not have tolerated that music and would have opposed the drag brunch even if it was women doing it.

ETA: the kid who had to listen to radio friendly CDs turned out the most messed up of anyone in my circle.

History rhymes. I’ve played in nearly 2 decades worth of Pride Parades. Early on, we had the rando protesters like you describe. They were loud. Marching band players on the sidewalk in front of them are much louder.

Drag queens are entertainers whose audience are usually adults. Like Bono, Sting, Billy Connolly, John Cleese etc.

They are not adult entertainers in the sense that strippers, pole dancers are adult entertainers.

The distinction is that the main, perhaps only aim of the latter group is to sexually arouse.

It is not any part of a drag act to sexually arouse.

Comparisons with strippers and the like are obviously absurd.

Like the attempt to associate drag performers, and homosexuals, with child abuse.

Better yet query: were they modeling the latest winter fashions? Cause it must have been a mite brisk?
 
Last we heard from BobThe Coward, he appeared suddenly in this very thread to say he's going to check out a drag show. He checks it out, and is suddenly banned. Guess we're not supposed to connect the dots?

This article explains it. From the article:

There were approximately 30 Columbia Public Schools students in attendance at the event. There were also students from our community’s private and parochial schools in attendance. Of the CPS students in attendance, the district has received 2 complaints from parents of children who attended the event. We have been in direct communication with those parents regarding their concerns.

The district has also received numerous communications from parents who did NOT have students at the event, individuals who do NOT have children enrolled in CPS, and individuals who do NOT reside in our community.

It sounds to me from the highlighted parts that the complaints are coming primarily from outsiders who have an anti-drag agenda and are not connected to the school.

A bit of the song and dance by 3 men dressed in non-sexually suggestive, drag clothing is included in the video.
