Moderated Donald Sterling, Owner of the Clippers, is Racist

I'm like to see a voter registration card in his name, Donald Tokowitz Sterling not some last name only thing. Asking for validation in this day and age is not unreasonable. The truth will set us all free.
How many Sterling are there in LA?

In what specific way did The Conservative Treehouse convince you they had the right Donald Sterling that you now find lacking?

The same way Mother Jones convinced you. Let's see the proof.

You didn't even need evidence when you were told he was a Democrat. Now you want proof that he's a Republican.

Although I do find it amusing that you find it so much more unlikely that someone would be a Republican than a Democrat.

Actually, I believe both The Conservative Treehouse and Mother Jones have the right Donald Sterling, so I'm not guilty of a double standard.

So again: In what specific way did The Conservative Treehouse convince you they had the right Donald Sterling that you now find lacking?

This has nothing to do with the "thought police" and everything to do with a private organization making a decision based on its own best interest.

Their own best self-interest. Professional basketball is basically an entertainment venue. The owners are all in it together. Nobody wants a loose cannon who potentially makes the whole league look bad. This is also not the first time Sterling has been dinged. Including by the courts for racial discriminatory business practices.

The other issue is the tackiness of the latest episode. I realize rich men have been taking mistresses since, well probably since they invented money. And I know powerful men are often attracted to women from demographic groups that, other than for sexual purposes, they wouldn't otherwise have anything to do with them. But when it gets exposed in the glare of the national spotlight it looks pretty sleazy.

If I was part of a business group with this character I'd want to throw him overboard too.

I fail to see the relevance of Sterling's political affiliation. Nor do I care.

Its not so much relevant as is is funny to watch conservatives who gleefully pointed to his being a democrat howling "ha ha! Interwebz points for my side!!!" desprately scramble now.

No, I noted what I read there as the Dems are noting what they read at Jones place.

I'm not scrambling nor is anyone else, although, I am still laughing and saying "HAHA" like with the withdrawn NAACP Life Time Achievement Award. I have been wrong before and will be again, stood up and was counted.
The loss of 3 million to kidney research is tragic and personalities before principle.

I find it amazing that some here, who ordinarily are all about letting private organizations/businesses determine their own rules without outside interference from government (i.e. "thought police"), are complaining about how the NBA, a private organization/business, is handling this thing.

The words "hypocrisy" and "double standard" spring to mind

I'm not sure what posts you're talking about, but what you describe is in no way hypocrisy or a double standard unless the complainers you refer to are advocating government intervention. No more "hypocrisy" than supporting free speech and complaining when someone says something boneheaded.

Yes you are. Suddenly you require proof when none was needed before.

Well, we got two different reports going so we need to see the Registration card, name and all . I'd like to see that Life Time Achievement Award too.

Sucks to be you, I guess.

But we are bound by laws, not anyone individual's personal moral or ethical views, no matter how much that individual may stomp their feet and cry "No fair!" like a spoiled child denied a cookie.
I've given you a hypothetical. Is the scenario I've given acceptable to you? If a court says so, does that make it right?

Private organizations can act in any way they want in accordance with the law and their own internal set of rules and by-laws.

This has nothing to do with the "thought police" and everything to do with a private organization making a decision based on its own best interest.
It has everything to do with the thought police and public pressure. Again Sterling said nothing derogatory about the NBA nor about his own team. He was punished for a private conversation.
You do realize you're conflating two separate issues, right? The legality of the recording has absolutely nothing to do with the NBA's right and ability to act as they have.
I never said it did. They may have a legal right to punish someone for their thoughts, even if obtained illegally. Does that make it right?

And my favorite part is how pretty much every member of said private organization is in agreement with this decision, but somehow an unrelated second party thinks they know better.
Right because if a lot of people agree on something, that makes it true and correct.

If it really bugs you that much, then yes you should take the issue to court.
I've already given you the hypothetical. The court is fine with it. Are you? As long as the legal system declares something right or wrong, does that make it so?

The card has been shown. Hence your scrambling to find a reason not to believe it is the right person.

Gobsmacked. This may well qualify as the most asinine statement in this thread.

He was punished for a private conversation.
AGAIN, you don't know that. Moreover, you've been provided with cites that indicate it is not true.

Sadly, you've proven to be impervious to evidence in this thread.

Frankly, it doesn't matter whether or not it was a "private conversation". The content is now public, and people are allowed to react to it however they will and express themselves accordingly.

Well, we got two different reports going so we need to see the Registration card, name and all .

Ah, so public records declaring his political affiliation are somehow as equally untrustworthy as a blog's claim of his political affiliation. What a special world you live in.

Uh no, that is exactly what I want to see - a public record with his entire name including Donald Tokowitz Sterling typed or printed on it. A copy of the Life Time Achievement Award would be good too. NAACP accepting large sums of money from him in spite of knowing what he was is not special at all. Happens all the time. And it was the 2nd award. Looks like blood money doesn't go as far as it used too. Not so special.
Oh that poor sad olde olde man. Here are folk in the middle of the night, in jammies, drinking coffee making fun of him cause it is the most entertaining thing to do for them at 5AM PDT when they are awake for what ever reason.
