I see an old rich man with a Smoking Hot(TM) young girl friend/mistress, getting bent out of shape over her being seen in public with another man. For reasons that may make her wonder if she wants to stay his scholarship roles, he infuses a dose of garden variety bigot. The green monster of jealousy rarely brings out the best in anyone.

Does he perhaps know (or suspect) that, on the side, she likes a little magic in her life when he's busy being a rich guy doing rich guy things? As Unabogie points out, Magic Johnson is polite company. Didn't this guy get the memo?

Mr Owner-Who-Doesn't-Like-Black-People, here's a hint for you: what she loves about you is most likely involved with the color green.

My betting line in Vegas: no wedding bells for these two!

Hmm, here's a possible take on that:

He doesn't always have the time or energy to satisfy her, so he's "considerate" enough to allow that she'll occasionally need to scratch that itch, and all is fine ... if she's discrete.

There's only one man I know of who could adequately explain Donald Sterling in rational terms. And he's not -- sad to say -- a member of JREF so far as I know.

I suspect such an action would violate the terms of the collective bargaining agreement which exists between the players and owners.

Sterling himself has become a celebrity in a town that worships notoriety like no other. He's even achieved a kind of Superfriends status among renegade sports owners, befriending the likes of Al Davis and Jerry Reinsdorf, with whom he had lunch at the Super Bowl in 2008. (Neither man agreed to comment for this story.)

Keating is right, at least in part, seeing as Al Davis is dead.

For those unwilling to read the full article I posted, here is one of many examples cited... (spoiler for length) From ESPN, June 2009-

It was 2002, and Donald Sterling was talking to Sumner Davenport, one of his four top property supervisors, about a tenant at the Ardmore Apartments. Already the largest

landowner in Beverly Hills, Sterling had recently acquired the Ardmore as part of his move to extend his real estate empire eastward toward Koreatown and downtown LA. As he did, Sterling “wanted tenants that fit his image,” according to testimony Davenport gave in a discrimination lawsuit brought against Sterling in 2003 by 19 tenants and the nonprofit Housing Rights Center. (That case ended in a confidential settlement in 2005; attorneys for the Center declined to comment for this story. In a separate suit, also concluded in 2005, Davenport claimed Sterling sexually harassed her, and lost. She declined comment. The Magazine has obtained depositions in both cases.)
Cultivating his image, Davenport said, meant no blacks, no Mexican-Americans, no children (whom Sterling called “brats”) and no government-housing-subsidy recipients as tenants. So according to the testimony of tenants, Sterling employees made life difficult for residents in some of his new buildings. They refused rent checks, then accused renters of nonpayment. They refused to do repairs for black tenants and harassed them with surprise inspections, threatening residents with eviction for alleged violations of building rules.
When Sterling first bought the Ardmore, he remarked on its odor to Davenport. “That’s because of all the blacks in this building, they smell, they’re not clean,” he said, according to Davenport’s testimony. “And it’s because of all of the Mexicans that just sit around and smoke and drink all day.” He added: “So we have to get them out of here.”

Three interesting bits:
1. In 2009, NAACP presented Mr Sterling with an award.
2. Magic Johnson's tweets included this nugget. "Sterling's comments give the NBA a black eye." (Unintended pun, I'd guess).
3. Charles Barkley on ESPN about an hour ago, when commenting on this: ""This is a black league." (Someone please alert Steve Nash and Manu Genobili). (Yes, I get the point Charles was making).

This embarrassment will probably stay on the front page of sporting news for a week, maybe more. Gives folks a lot to talk about.

When I showed this photo to my daughter she showed it to her daughter and told her: "This is what happens to girl's who don't get a good education. That's their career option!"
