Moderated Donald Sterling, Owner of the Clippers, is Racist

If Magic is so great why is he not leading a massive movement against Don, the NBA, and any other kind of stuff to support stopping racism ? I am not impressed with Magic, although like Don know a little something about sexual promiscuity. as evidenced by his HIV status.

For the same reason why the Jews have tricked you: he plays it more subtle. Not everything is razzle-dazzle, behind-the-back-pass flash with him. C'mon, this is elementary.

You're on a first-name basis with Sterling?

David, posting quotes, without context or explanation, is not the same thing as pointing out logical fallacies. There was a discussion in which ABC10 was posting obnoxious stuff to bait some of the people here, and several of them responded by making tendentious statements or attacking Republicans or conservatives in general (actually some of this happened in subtler form even prior to ABC10's posts). To varying degrees, the posters you quoted responded in kind.

As to the quotes you gave, I don't think any were irrelevant or fallacious in context. They wouldn't ordinarily be relevant in a thread such as this, but the thread was going off the rails a bit, and they were apt at the time.

For example, I think Caper was making a fair point that racism is deeply embedded within human nature. We can only make it socially unacceptable to express it publicly (or illegal in some cases), but it is impossible to eliminate it. As he indicated several posts later, he in no way meant this as a justification for Sterling's blatant racism, nor did he mean for it to be an absolute statement. So there was no false equivalence, nor was it fallacious in any other regard. That post and Applecorp's posts (including those sent to AAH) I saw as mostly in response to an implication that Sterling's racist rant was proof that we don't live in a post-racial society and that therefore those who want to move beyond race are disingenuous or wrong.

I don't remember the context of ravdin's quote precisely, but there sure was a lot of conservative-bashing going on. I think it was fair to point out that there is actually quite a bit of racism within the Democratic Party, and arguably the whole framework of affirmative action race-sensitive policies which they advocate is racist. The way conservative blacks are vilified is particularly appalling to me.

As for my writings, you still haven't explained how they were logically flawed. Just because you don't agree with something doesn't mean it is fallacious.
You have the ability to read no? I've provided links, knock yourself out. Oh, and read the post above the one I'm quoting for another example. Oh, when you're done reading those, reread your post for more of your own Tu Quoques.

My point has been made again and again, no need for me to respond again. Have fun.

Here's a thought. How about being proactive and turn on the TV checking out the commentators to see and hear them. The proof is in the pudding. It's right out there, front and center.
No matter the thread, no matter the topic, this is so inadequate as to be laughable. Just watch and I'll prove it...

I viewed several programs on MSNBC and CNN and didn't see evidence supporting your claim.

Do you care to provide evidence? This is a skeptical forum, sharpen your pencil.

So Magic Johnson and his shadowy partners are now interested in buying the Clippers. It's clear #32 plotted this like a fastbreak.

1) Show up to the game with Sterling's half-black girlfriend, arousing Sterling's well-known anger.
2) Get her to record the slob complaining about Magic and his employee/co-conspirator Matt Kemp
3) Shame the league into forcing the sale of the Clippers.

People say the world's controlled by the Jews, and maybe that's true, but one thing's for certain: Magic Johnson has a seat at the table.

LOL
Well, given the distain this man has for what appears to be pretty much everything, I'm left wondering why I should care how he goes away. If Magic did some backhanded thing, more power to him.

Yes I saw that, I wondered (and posted here) why she would call herself "V." instead of Vanessa? Why would she use aliases?

V stands for Vanessa, her full name is Maria Vanessa Perez, 38, she also goes by other aliases including Monica Gallegos, Maria Valdez and Vanessa Perez

She apparently changed her name legally in 2010 from Maria Vanessa Perez because, she said, she hadn’t been “fully accepted because of my race."

On her Instagram account she describes herself as an "Artist, Lover, Writer, Chef, Poet, Stylist.” That sounds like her real occupation is "hustler." TMZ has reported she had worked for Sterling as a Clippers archivist and also worked for one of his charities.

The LA Times reports that the Clippers deny Stiviano was ever a team employee but suggested she might've worked for one of Sterling's other companies.

The Sordid Life Of Clippers Owner Donald Sterling

Just in time for the lottery, ESPN The Magazine has a look-see at the walking abomination known as Donald Sterling, Clippers owner and a man of discerning taste. Dislikes: blacks, Mexicans, children. Likes: Koreans, blowjobs.

The last one, at least, is old news. But The Mag's always excellent Peter Keating also got his hands on depositions from a discrimination lawsuit brought in 2003 against the real-estate mogul by 19 tenants and the Housing Rights Center, a case that prefigured the more recent volley of charges that Sterling is not exactly the most racially enlightened guy around. The picture that emerges isn't pretty.

The kicker? That article is from 2009. As in, five years ago.

If you look at the exchange which occurred more than half an hour before you posted this, you will/should see that I misunderstood to whom DavidJames was referring.

Yes, I saw that. But my point stands. You were provided the example you requested.

Now what?

Nope. DavidJames has confirmed that his claim extends to non-ABC10 "conservative" posters here.

Oh okay... now we're retroactively dismissing certain examples. So we're back to "That doesn't count".

If he or you gives me an example, I will concede that my challenge has been met, although that would still come far short of justifying his rather broad claim.

Protip: If your intention is to dismiss a single example as being insuffient, maybe ask for more than one example to begin with. That way, your arguments seem less like disingenuous attempts to score debate points.

Why would she use aliases?

I dunno, but moral of the story: don't trust, let alone date, someone who uses aliases.

And, FWIW, "Magic" is a cutesy sobriquet for Earvin, and everyone (should) know(s) that. I'd have a nickname too if my first name was "Earvin".

It's being reported that the NBA will suspend Sterling tomorrow but they may not have the legal right to remove him. However, former Baseball Commissioner Faye Vincent who banned Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott for similar comments thinks the NBA probably could justify a ban citing the Schott action as a precedent.

“What she said was egregious, but what he said was probably worse,” Vincent, 75, said yesterday in a telephone interview. “There’s a question of where you draw the line. In this case, with what this guy did, and probably in Marge Schott’s case, you’re well over the line.”

Before yesterday's playoff game Clipper players removed their warmup jackets, piled them in the center of the court and then wore the warmup jerseys inside out (so the team logo was not visible).

Old white men get a pass for racism, as long as they are prominent Democrats.

There's a difference between politically incorrect gaffes and detailed diatribes that describe how awesome slavery is.

Racist mooching criminal Cliven Bundy isn't necessarily a racist because he used the antiquated, un-PC term "negro". That could just be a demonstration of his age. The racism is in his personal pro-slavery philosophy he was kind enough to share with the world.

Same goes for that Duck Dynasty clown and registered Republican Donald Sterling.
