I understood that. "He" does have freedom from (certain) consequences and that is what free speech means. YMMV on what consequences one should be free from in order for it to be deemed "freedom of speech".

There is no such thing as freedom to say (write, publish, act out) anything you wish to wherever or whenever you wish to with no consequences - unless you are the leader of a backwards and ignorant country/region or religion who is not elected and has an absolutely loyal army backing him/her.

With no offense, I have no idea at all how anyone can interpret the Constitution any differently than that as it has been verified and explained by Constitutional /legal scholars since forever...

I'm a little confused about what your point is. Are you trying to make a distinction between punishing speech after the fact and prior restraint of speech? Because if so, I don't think the case law on the 1st Amendment makes such a distinction.

Thanks Lisa. I kind of saw that coming. And the NBA has announced it will be taking action against Sterling.

What I don't get about the girlfriend is, why does she call herself V. Stiviano? Why the initial for her first name? Who does that? I was guessing her first name was probably Venus or Velvet, something like that, and she didn't want to use it because she was afraid it might seem...a tad tacky?
