Disloyal: A Memoir - Michael Cohen's book

Bolton's premise was, "Trump was wrong". Cohen's premise seems to be that, "I was wrong".

In his TV interviews, he has said so explicitly: he belonged to the Trump cult.
“I describe Mr. Trump as a cult leader, and I was in this cult,” Cohen, referring to his book, “Disloyal,” told NBC’s Lester Holt.

“While I was in the cult, I was really refusing to acknowledge that the actions I was performing for my boss were morally wrong,” Cohen added.

I note that he still refers to his long-time boss as Mr. Trump.

The Trump tragedy, for him and for us, is that he never had the thinnest shred of self-awareness or insight. He became President after Obama had established an era of peace and prosperity. Trump could have appointed competent people to the top jobs, stood back and let them do what they do best, and taken on an avuncular, man-of-the-people personae. His desperate, vicious insecurity has done us all in.

Um....that's what idiots do: you do stupid things like bullhorning around all the time to make sure as many people, goateed or not, knew it.

Okay so I broke down and bought the audio book. He's pretty credible so far. Bolton was decidedly not credible. In fact when Cohen unflinchingly writes about his own guilt, It's in stark relief to Bolton's condescension.

So far, in the first couple of chapters of the Cohen book, cohen catches on to what Trump is about. He wanted to make a buck ln every deal, but in deals gone bad it was a strategy to pull out and still look good that was needed. Trump pulls out of casino that he had lent his name to, by license agreement. The real owners and board are left to deal with the bankruptcy after Cohen charges that they defaulted on the casino license deal by letting it run down. No money gained, but Trump saves face and transfers blame.

For the most part it did not work when Trump was president. But in the impeachment there was a lot of that. Senate republicans substituted for Cohen.

Does he get into his life at all? I'm really curious about if he actually was involved in minor mob stuff in brighton beach.

I'm surprised that the casual revelation that Trump forced himself upon a woman and pushed her onto his 12-year-old daughter's bed at Mara-Lago didn't get more play. Cohen describes the event as the first of the catch and kills he engaged in with the "Enquirer". Cohen goes into how the catch and kill process worked but I was listening to it (I got the audio book) and I couldn't get past that Trump tried to rape a woman on his own daughter's bed. The woman wriggled free (according to Cohen) and Trump only succeeded in groping her. Cohen goes on to describe his own guilt in the matter before explaining the relationship with David Pecker and the "Enquirer". He is unflinching in that. I could hardly focus on anything after, "Pushed her on his daughter's bed".

Truly a man send by god.

But thanks for taking one for the team and telling us what you find in the book.

Remember Trump raped his first wife but he got whoever was his fixer then to get her to change her book so it was "not rape rape".

We know 100% that Trump committed at least one act of serious physical assault on one of his wives, but we knew this decades ago, we knew from his own words that he does not gain consent before sexually molesting (at the lowest level but probably should be viewed as assault) women. We knew that he views under 16 year old girls as objects of sexual desire prior to his winning the election, we know that he viewed - at least when she was younger - his own daughter in terms of sexual attractiveness.

I really don't think people learning about another instance of such behaviour will change their mind about Trump.

FAKE NEWS!

Sometimes a lawyer can be reinstated although that is highly unlikely. Not that he worked as a lawyer before.
I liked this comment from a Jezebel article, when someone noted Cohen was willing to serve up juicy gossip, but not evidence of criminality:
Hard to get those deets from a fixer who is a lawyer. There are certain things you’re not allowed to disclose. Yes, even after you’re fired, yes, even if they’re the most repulsive human ever. That’s why you want your fixer to be a lawyer, so they can’t rat on you.

Since he's already been disbarred, violating his ethical canons probably isn't a major worry. But he could still be sued for alleging crimes that he can't prove, and in some cases he might be implicating himself. But he has said he's working with the New York state authorities so there might be more to come.

The Cohen book so far...100 pages... describes Trump as the superficial petson he is. The Cohen parts have a somewhat concocted storybook feel. He describes all his bad deeds but not in a very deep manner."I'm off the hook now." But I will say that analysts and historians will have to consult this as the facts as to why Trump ran. He was bored. He hated and envied Obama and always considered him axforeigner, no matter the facts. That rolled into Twitter birther attacks. There really isn't much else from the Trump camp to go on.

Trump "leadership" and dealing with underlings is identical in the presidency to when he was a businessman. In the Cohen era it was mostly bluff and licensing rather than $ invested.

Trump endorsed a conspiracy theory that Violated the Laws of Physics as described in the works of James Clark Maxwell, on the word of a Debunked 9/11Twoofer Follower of Dr. Steven E Jones, Lyte Tripp, and Dylan Avery, and your wondering if he is all fake?
If I wasn't a Poor Man I could have stopped all this but a poor man can't fight a billionaire who could make him disappear.
Money talks and even makes imbeciles look smart.

I'm starting to have a hard time with his, "but you don't know what it's like," excuse when he talks about being under Trump's spell. It's fairly transparent that Cohen was in it for the money and connections (which led to more money). I will buy that Cohen liked and relished being a tough guy for Trump. I don't buy that he was in some kind of spell of Trump's. He does still seem to be completely open about his transgressions though.

??
Where did I say Trump was not fake? I did give Cohen some credit now that he is a never Trumper.

Sorry I was referring to the bluff and Buster part when Trump is more than that he is a Scam, I knew that when he came to Louisville Kentucky with Oprah Winfrey for the Kentucky Derby, and I met him, he was pissed I stole his lime light because I was in Ripley's.
Saddly I didn't get to meet Oprah Winfrey she had to leave early.
