Did mermen ever really exist?

For ancient Chinamen and Cornishmen to have all seen one, they must have once existed.

Russians, Irish, Greeks - all describe them in a similar way.

Perhaps mermen became extinct.

They all saw dragons too.

I'm bookmarking this page. Whenever you attempt to make a serious point anywhere on the forum, you interlocutors will be reminded of this stupidity.

Is this one of those threads that exists to stealthily try and make a point about some other thread? Because otherwise, it seems really random.

Of course mermen have always existed. They're from Atlantis. Duh.

I don't know, but I'd say the admissible evidence we have for the existence of mermen is about as lacking as the evidence that Amanda Knox killed her roommate. And the joy it creates in some people to imagine mermen where none exist is about equal to the joy inspired in some people by imagining a foreign, college sex-murder.

And the people with heads of dogs?

Manatees were often mistaken for beautiful seafaring women by sailors.

Sad, desperate, lonely, horny, drunken sailors.

My ex-girlfriend thinks she is a mermaid. Then again, I left her because I could no longer visit her at the funny farm

Of course they exist. Here is one I managed to convince to join weight watchers.
