"Altar" is a loaded word and implies a function not in evidence. Why not call it a keystone or something neutral like that? Because it wouldn't fit your preconceived narrative.sundial with altar stone

"Chambers" is so much more evocative a word than "rooms". You should be an estate agent.underground chambers.
