Destroyed Atlantis = Menorah

The scribbles appear aquatic in nature, boats and things therefore Atlantis. Because no one would scribble pictures of boats if they lived near the water unless the were from Atlantis.

I couldn't see the boats, honestly. The unicorn was the only thing that was clearly a specific thing to me.

What method would one use to determine when the ocean level rose, if not the Younger Dryas dating data?
Exactly. The date of the ruins I posted are 'at least' 11,500 years old, possibly older.
---
Unless our ancestors were building underwater cities, the ruins I posted could not possibly be younger than that.
It can't possibly be younger than 11,500 years old...that's the best I can do, for now.
If there are indeed a lot of sunken sites off ALL coasts, then I'd say this is evidence of a global flood, that destroyed and consumed cities...

You REALLY should stop embarrassing yourself.

Here is a list of 10 sunken ruins.

NOTE:

1) All are less than 11,500 years old.

2) NONE were caused by a "global flood". They were caused at various times (that means, "not at the same time"). The ruins are now under water due to various earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes. NOT a "global flood".

"Even old New York, was once New Amsterdam."

Yes, and there is plenty of evidence for that.

There is ZERO evidence that the city of Athens existed in 9000bce.

The ruins are 'at least' that old, maybe older.

And you will be providing evidence for this baseless claim?

Yet-to-be-investigated ruins are not meaningless.

"Yet-to-be-investigated ruins" have ZERO ties to Atlantis. They need to be investigated.

And if they are not investigated "yet" then how can you claim how old they are?

NO ONE...? So you are the spokesperson for everyone who uses the International Skeptics Forum...?

I never said I was a spokesperson for ISF. I was speaking about THIS THREAD. Go ahead and look through this thread and see if there are ANY posters, even ONE, that agrees with your "theory".

Personally, I find such claims as yours to be utterly meaningless. Do, please, speak only for yourself.

Of course you find my claims "meaningless". You find the claims of everyone on this thread to be "meaningless".

Lastly, this is not my theory. I have not been to Europe, the Atlantic, or Spain. My investigations employed google earth, wherein my results have been posted.

But you blindly believe this ridiculous "theory". And from what you have posted on this thread, your "investigations" and "results" are nothing but trying to "prove" your already believed "theory".

You absolutely refuse to look at evidence, which is A LOT, that shows your claims to be ridiculous

I do not know this theory to be true, but I do believe it is the best possible explanation, given all the data we now have, for the origins of the "pattern" now used as a candlestick holder.

Of course you believe it. Because you REFUSE to look at actual evidence.

I have deduced a more plausible hypothesis for the origin of the menorah symbol, rendering Cameron's Atlantis-origin hypothesis unnecessary.

We know for a fact that the Jews were able to see the night sky in various seasons. Clearly, that means they derived the menorah symbol (and the item of temple furniture that takes that shape) from the configuration of the stars indicated in the diagram.

KotA, you pride yourself on being able to connect the dots, so I assume you'll be accepting my new hypothesis without reservation.

Only here, would someone post evidence of sunken cities, consumed by earthquakes, at least one of which from the same time period Plato wrote about, as evidence he was wrong...

"Atlit-Yam
Haifa, Israel-

Dating from around 7000 BC, this is one of the oldest and largest submerged human dwellings ever discovered. In fact, for 9000 years the granular ocean floor preserved the site so well, that bugs can still be found in the grain stores and the skeletons are still lying peacefully in their graves. The ruins were discovered in 1984 and immediately gave rise to different theories as to how the well-developed ancient village met its ultimate demise. From a tsunami to the gradual rise of the ocean due to the systematic melting of the glaciers, the events leading to its ultimate fate will forever be shrouded in mystery."

How do you know it's the civilization Plato talked about? You have to have something that ties the ruins to the city.

Try reading for comprehension. I was not speaking about Plato's fictional story being wrong. I was speaking of your ridiculous theory being wrong. Which it is. And which of the 10 sunken ruins from the link I posted is from the "same time period Plato wrote about"?

Plato's fictional story about the fictional island of Atlantis was not set in the "same time period" as the Atlit Yam ruins.

The sunken ruins off Haifa/Carmel are ~2000 years younger than Plato's fictional Atlantis.

1) 7000bce =/= 9000bce

2) 9000 years ago =/= 11,500 years ago.

What evidence links these ruins to the shape of the Menorah?

One side of Mouth- "There is NO evidence is Plato's sunken city/civilization(s)."

Other side of Mouth- "There are lots of underwater ruins, prove those are the Atlantean ruins, in the Atlantic you were looking for."

ETA:

So, which is it, are there LOTS of ruins or no ruins?

Are sunken ruins evidence of sunken cities?

Are sunken Atlantic ruins Atlantean?

I think the problem here really is that people don't understand how limited your knowledge base is. We take it for granted that everyone already knows that submerged human built structures are commonplace. It doesn't occur to us that the idea could be novel to anyone over the age of 5.

I get that to you, learning at the age of 41 that someone finding the remains of a building underwater seems like evidence that Atlantis existed.

Thin it of from our perspective. Imagine that someone was insisting that Naria was real the first time they encountered a crown. "The Kings and Queens of Narnia had crowns, and here is one of them!" You would rightly point out that crowns are common, and finding one does not provide evidence that Narnia is real.

This is what your behavior is like to us. We assume everyone knows how common underwater ruins are. The massive number of them does not make Atlantis more likely to be real. There are lots of people. This does not make the existence of Atlanteans more likely to have been real. Boats exist. Cities exist. Armies exist. All of these things are assumed from the beginning. If you want to provide evidence for the existence of Atlantis, you need to provide something more than what everyone already knows.

On the other hand, I'm happy for you that you learned something. You are finally stepping into the exciting world of Kindergarten.

Calling any ancient underwater ruins found in coastal areas of the Atlantic Ocean, "Atlantean", really is silly in the extreme though.

There's an air of pure desperation thinking that if you provide examples of underwater coastal ruins in the area of the Atlantic Ocean (the existence of such ruins is not in doubt), and therefore call the ruins Atlantean because they're in the Atlantic ocean, you've provided evidence of the existence of Plato's Atlantis.

The bizarre argument (I would say circular, but I'm not sure how to describe it) regarding the dating of the ruins KOTA has provided examples of are also very silly. The Younger Dryas period is 11,000+ years ago. The ruins are claimed to be from this period, putting it roughly in the same timespan as the date of Plato's Atlantis. When asked for evidence that dates these ruins to the Younger Dryas period, KOTA's response was "The Younger Dryas carbon dating...I suppose.". In other words, evidence that dates anything to the Younger Dryas period, is apparently evidence that these specific ruins date from the Younger Dryas period. I mean how do you come up with such a tortured argument in the first place?

So not the Spanish ruins, the Israeli ruins. Make up your mind. Or borrow a map.

Semi-circular?

Having just caught up with this thread it appears the dating claim was based on a simplistic assumption that the Younger Dryas period was when sea levels rose therefore any submerged buildings must pre-date that time. The notion that the level of the land might change locally and at other times seems not to have been considered.

Enreddening by me for emphasis: the ruins were 9000 years old by the time the Atlantis story was made up? What is your evidence?????
