Destroyed Atlantis = Menorah

...

The Younger Drayas was a period of over a thousand years. There was sea level rise during this period, it is true. Plato's description of the death of Atlantis did not involves centuries of sea level rise. It was a rapid disaster with volcanoes and flooding.

The sea level rise did not take centuries...

It happened overnight, supposedly.

Ruins like the Scablands are evidence of this, no?

Which glacial lake flooded the southern coast of Spain?
And any answer yet as to how Bronze Age ruins could be flooded thousands of years before they were built? Or aren't you claiming they are Atlantis anymore? Or are they Atlantis, and is this talk about the Younger Dryas irrelevant?
Or, more likely: are you grasping at straws and desperately ignoring all the huge inconsistencies in your arguments?

By the way, anything linking the Jews to Spain or Atlantis yet? Or do you really believe that vague gut feelings based on nothing but subjective visual association outweigh the archaeological and historical record?

The Scablands were flooded by a glacial lake when a huge ice dam burst. If you can point us to the remains of such a lake and dam in southern Spain you have evidence that something similar occured there. Until then it's all bald assertion.

There you go KotA. You can reply now.

Are you crazy? A glacial dam broke in the Pacific Northwest and sea levels rose enough to cover an active volcano on a continent in the Atlantic in less than a day? Seriously, have you ever seen water?

There were three abrupt sea level changes during the Younger Dryas period. "Abrupt" in the geological sense. The one that is closest to the time Plato assigned to the destruction of Atlantis took 300 years.

And seriously, read Plato. He says that volcanic eruptions caused the island to sink. You are claiming that the flooding submerged the continent first, making a volcano do....something.

Yes, global floods are global.

Global floods sunk Atlantis and Cairo but NOT Athens?

Like 9000 BC, the Plato quote is only one page away.

Where is the archaeological evidence the sunken Spanish ruins are from 9000bce?

Plato described Atlantis sinking in the time a day and a night. We have not seen it above the water since. The flood waters that covered Cairo and the Scablands have long since receded.

But these flood waters did NOT cover Athens?

You are asking poorly formed questions.

Not as poorly formed as your ridiculous theory.

Ah!

Well, when you put it that way, it all makes perfect sense now.....and connecting the dots, something something something MENORAH!

And, that, of course, led to circumcision!!!!! By George we have all the links in place now!!!!!!!:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp:eek:

So, a while back KotA said some kinda strange stuff that seemed like he was trying to leave wiggle room to declare Atlantis doesn't have to be Atlantis at all for this to count, just... Atlant-ish.

I asked him to clarify his position a few times but he didn't reply to that part of my posts (and now he's not replying to any part of them). I normally would assume that all this talk about geological "evidence" for Plato being correct means he's sticking to a literal Atlantis, but with KotA I am not 100%.

Honestly I wish he would state his whole theory in a clear and concise way because that's never been done in the 900+ posts in this thread. He's referred to other sources, he has picked one aspect and gone off on tangents, but what I really want is something like this:

"The lost city of Atlantis is real, and was located on the coast of Spain. Survivors and descendants of the Atlanteans carved symbols on rocks to remember their lost empire by, and some wandering Jews later saw those carvings and, even though they didn't know what Atlantis was, decided they just liked the carvings so much they would adopt a highly altered version as a design for a lamp."

I mean, I think that's what he's saying but I genuinely can't be certain. I suspect if he were to read that he would declare at least one part of it wrong.

The problem is he seems to be working backwards from the menorah idea. He seems to really like the thought that the menorah evolved from a stylized map of Atlantis, and everything else is just haphazardly accepted and discarded according to what he needs for a given post. The location of Atlantis, the time frame of Atlantis, the reliability of Plato, etc all change from post to post so he can keep the one idea he is fixated on.

I can't even figure out what he thinks about that carving in the referenced submerged ruins. If the menorah is derived from a map of 3 concentric rings, what is the relationship between that carving and anything?

As far as I know none of the carvings are in the submerged ruins themselves, but a bit inland. The only really clear carving I saw was of a unicorn - the rest was just lines or circles and could be referring to anything. I don't know if they've been properly dated, the video I watched on YouTube (which was from the Atlantis Rising thing) made it sound like they haven't since they tried to date it by looking for horseshoes on the unicorn. They deemed the lack of horseshoes meaningful, which is odd because:
1. Even after horseshoes were in use there would be no reason to assume all drawings of horses would include them.
2. Even on drawings meant to depict tamed horses I don't feel like horseshoes would typically be visible.
3. The unicorn was just a scribble and couldn't have realistically been expected to have visible horseshoes in any case.
4. Everyone knows you don't put horseshoes on unicorns. The most you can do is tie the hair of a virgin around its neck to lead it around.

It certainly didn't inspire a lot of confidence in these guys.

Not as poorly formed as your ridiculous theory.

Maybe it being 600+ feet above sea level helped?

Under the Atlantic.

This theory belong to James Cameron and National Geographic.

How are the ruins of a glacial lake flood evidence of sea levels rising?

Also, just FYI, I'm pretty sure it's kind of taboo to discuss your ignore list in-thread.

Because the water ends up in the ocean...

Nope, Water is completely alien to me.

Please tell me about it. If you could talk about tsunami's, global ocean levels, and where ice sheets were in relation to these levels that would be helpful.

Can you quantify how much the Scablands flood changed the sea level?

I'm not claiming anything there isn't evidence of.
