Saw my first episode of the SyFy Channel's Destination Truth over the weekend, and found myself stunned by the stupid. I found no thread on this program here, so I've started one. Please use this space for all manner of discussion involving the show.

Its almost a crypto travel show. It's funny and entertaining. Dont like it dont watch it.
 
I actually enjoy the show (I know, stone me in the town square). The "investigations" for me are a sidelight to the travel portion, which I find to be very funny at times (though the car schtick is getting a wee old). My favorite of all time is watching the guy "transform" into a werewolf right in front of Josh Gates. And, yes, I don't believe in any of the evidence they find. It's the journey, not the end point.
 
The host, Josh Gates, has written a book that makes it clear that he knows full well there are no monsters, he was hired for being an experienced traveler with some acting skills to pull off the TV show host thing, and he's just having fun seeing new places and running around like an idiot with a nightvision camera. So the truth about the show is available to any fan fannish enough to read the book, which is better than the ghost hunters shows. I guess.
 
With every episode, they get further and further from their "destination."
 
When I first started watching, it seemed like he came off very sarcastic, whichmade the show fun. I get he still doesn't buy it, but he seems to hide it better now.
 
I am not 100 percent sure, but this is likely the last 1/2 season of the series. I know that SyFy delayed the current season for at least 6 months, if not longer. There has been no futher indication that the show will be renewed, especially with Josh Gates starting to host a new show and Erin Ryder moving on to "Chasing UFO's". I would imagine the sarcasm was "downplayed" at the behest of SyFy to sell more Woo to the believers to try and boost the ratings in an attempt to keep the show alive.
 
It's the usual fare. They go out to look for something, and come back empty-handed, as usual.
 
;)Oh Boy...am I glad we mostly have " Reality TV " here , I did a quick count for today and found 32 in the first 5 minutes of checking the TV guide ....We did have a show here a while back , where some short TV/actor person ran all over England digging up peoples backyards/ church yards / fields,etc. looking for all sorts of archeological artifacts , but no SyFy [ whew !]...
 
You know, the SyFy Channel is the only network I actually find acceptable to air this kind of non-sense... Because its exactly the type of stuff that belongs on the network. Science Fiction. Stress on the fiction part mainly.

Though, I still can't stand to watch Ghost Hunters. Argh.

They are just trying to make money and succeeding. They never find the ghost or the monster or the cryptid which makes me respect them a bit.

My children (8 and 15) for reasons unknown to science find Ghost Hunters amusing even if they are smart enough to know it is BS. To me it is all nails-on-a-chalkboard.
 
I kind of like Josh Gates. He also sounds a little bit like a deeper-voiced Kermit, which makes it all the more amusing. He does a good job of playing along with the believers, but the show seems to be geared more towards showing off cool and exotic places, though they've done some foolish things. One episode had them cruising through the mountains on dirt bikes and one of the female hosts took a nasty fall on dirt. No helmet, no gloves, t-shirt if that. Her arm was pretty banged up.

Nor, like finding Bigfoot will they ever. the premise is the search not the find. Themoment they find the monster they kill the show. That for the sake of profits must never happen.

I have been unsuccessful at finding the episode about the wolf man. Do know which season and episode had this?
