You seem to have a very low opinion of "reasonable people".
Similar to I Am The Scum's post in #397, "If I imagine that everyone is as horrible as I am, then I'm not actually horrible."

They were conveniently removed.
This is still false. You can either do some basic fact-checking or be an unpaid advertiser of Republican lies. Your call.
https://www.politifact.com/factchec...ary-didnt-deport-immigrants-marthas-vineyard/Local officials, residents and community groups provided shelter and food to the immigrants who arrived on Sept. 14, but they were taken Sept. 16 to nearby Joint Base Cape Cod, a military base with dormitory-style housing, for longer-term shelter.
They were conveniently removed. Then the residents held a party, no doubt. Nobody wants 50 random immigrants camping out in the neighborhood. Nobody with half a brain, anyway.
...That is called "being removed". And Sept.14th-16th is what is known as " two days".
See this?

That led some on social media to allege that the U.S. military was used to "deport" the immigrants off the wealthy island. But that is not what happened. The military wasn’t involved in their transport to the base, and the immigrants went there voluntarily, according to a civil rights group representing many of them.
So, is it really called "being removed" or "being offered better accommodations on the mainland"?
They went to MA voluntarily also. Hell, they even signed papers to that effect.
...Does it really bother you that much that people from MV are not the giant ******** you think they ought to be?

You guys are funny
Call it whatever you like.![]()

I'm just happy he sent them out of FL to MA, which is "unofficially" a sanctuary state.
After first moving them into Florida. Which kinda undercuts the claim that Florida is swamped by too many immigrants, doesn't it? He had to import them in order to relieve the state of them.

Perception is more powerful than truth.
It doesn't matter whether FL is overrun with Venezuelan immigrants, or not. I don't know why some can't just accept the symbolic nature, and the fact that this is only intended to solidify his base and attract right-wing supporters, country-wide. Mission accomplished, I'd bet.
He is top news now, and in the eyes of the targeted demographic, for all the right reasons.
Part of the grifting shell game, I think. He's paying for it with Florida state funds at exorbitant rates, 3-5x what the actual cost for a private plane for fifty people would be. It passes through Florida, but none of the aggrieved parties are in Florida to bring a case locally and challenge the use of the funds. My only thought that makes this even somewhat logical (even from DeSantis warped mind) is that rounding up 50 random Hispanic immigrants in Florida will almost certainly mean some are Cuban and that will piss off a significant block of Florida voters. I really cannot come up with any other explanation for the two-step part of his scheme.
